How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Farming Simulator 22 has taken a few steps forward and a few steps back. The amount of content can't make up for the lack of dynamic terrain and poor AI. But the production chains are a nice and sophisticated novelty. Those who like farming and these simulators will still enjoy the game. Moreover, the handy community will gradually create interesting modifications, including more elaborate maps.”

“We waited three years for Farming Simulator 22, only to be greeted by a winter season that was promising but underdeveloped, along with a host of outdated systems that the developers haven’t touched in years. The game’s saving graces are its more attractive machine models and animations, a vast array of options, and, most importantly, endgame content in the form of production chains, which are the main reason fans of the genre should pick up this new installment. Despite its shortcomings, players can easily spend hundreds of blissful hours playing it. Simply put, there’s still plenty to tweak, and the developers should take into account what players actually want.”

“Farming Simulator 22 is the best installment of the series, but it's not perfect. Some issues could have been easily avoided, while others are clearly the results of choices. But we can be sure that mods will fix many things soon. Then the veterans of the series will love it.”

“Farming Simulator 22 is an experience I can only describe as highly demanding, but almost as equally rewarding. Thanks to the bolstered business management elements of the game, you have several new opportunities to expand your business and truly feel like you're dominating the agriculture market.”

“Farming Simulator 22 seeks to diversify the series with a wealth of critical new gameplay features. It isn't perfect, and there's still some more that can be added, but this is certainly a step in the right direction for the series.”

“Farming Simulator 22 massively expands upon the management aspect of past games, giving greater importance to your crops once you’ve harvested them. Building supply chains is immensely rewarding, even if it can take what feels like an eternity to get your business up and running the way you want to. Interesting new crops, like grapes and olives, add gameplay variety to the tried and tested loop, while an abundance of licensed machinery gives you a wealth of vehicles and tools to work with. It’s the best entry in Giants Software’s series yet, but like a popular British yeast extract, you’ll either love it or hate it.”

“Farming Simulator 22 has improved over previous installments. From small things like driving, which is still not perfect, to physics that have to do with weight, terrain, and the type of machinery. There is also, of course, the new gameplay mechanics that enrich the experience by making it deeper. Their problems are in how difficult it can be for a new player to understand what to do in the game, as well as how unretributive the game will be with your effort, they are things that can discourage players and make them simply stop playing.”

“A really remarkable title that offers a fun and at the same time a relaxing experience.”

“Farming Simulator 22 is a big step forward compared to its predecessor, but it still suffers from the syndrome of being a regular "simulator". Running a farm is completely addictive, but the world around us is just outrageously poor.”

“Farming Simulator 22 is a beefy farming game that brings realism at the expense of inexperienced player enjoyment. It’s a machine built on the agricultural industry that forgoes any story in favour of hard work. It’s a simulator game that understands the assignment but isn’t at all intuitive in how it allows players to begin new farms. With proper tutorials and allowances, this game would appeal to players beyond its dedicated niche. Once players are able to tackle the learning curve, they’ll discover enjoyment can be found through persistence.”
