How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Lemon Cake is generally a fun game, but not a relaxing one. You have to take care of everything and keep track of it, which often actually feels more like work. The lack of a story adds to the fun, so it's better to play Lemon Cake in short bursts rather than as an evening-long game. Then you can have a lot of fun with it. It's just a shame that you can't work in the bakery with two people; that would certainly have boosted motivation. Otherwise, it's a nice game to play in between for anyone who wants to make a name for themselves as a hobby baker.”

“Lemon Cake is a wonderfully charming career simulation suitable for anyone with a sweet tooth. This game has plenty to offer and plenty of play time to fatten you up with gaming goodness. It has a great pace, soothing music and nothing ever becomes overcomplicated. It’s an easy recommendation to the fan of the casual sim genre.”

“Lemon Cake is cute and addictive. The basic loop is enjoyable, and there’s a diverse spread of goodies from chocolate croissants and caramel flan to cakes and crumbles. But it’s a slow grind and doesn’t introduce new mechanics along the way. So it won’t engage everyone to the very end, but it’s still keeping my interest. Even when I think I’m spending too much time on this game, I keep returning for more baked goodness. Recommended for fans of time-management games like Diner Dash and Overcooked.”

“Don’t expect Lemon Cake to blow you away. Management sims come much better and more sophisticated than this elsewhere. But if you like to keep things simple and have fond memories of playing the likes of Diner Dash, then this will scratch that nostalgic itch deep inside of you. Sure, it’s repetitive, but sometimes a straightforward, goal-oriented game to switch off with is all we need.”
