How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“A humorous adventure that really gets under your skin. It’s sure to delight fans of adventure games and wacky dialogue-driven comedies. A game that highlights the contrast between the real world and a Viking-Biblical fantasy afterlife. Do you like 2D cartoon-style platformer graphics and have a good command of English? Go for it. The Holy Gosh Darn features excellent voice acting, the humor pulls no punches, and you can always rewind time without any stress. If you don’t speak any of the following languages, Chinese, English, French, German, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or Turkish, move on to something else. Or wait for a possible fan translation of the PC version.”

“The Holy Gosh Darn uses its time-traveling gimmick to full-effect, crafting a multitude of fun puzzles within a world packed full of wacky characters, witty jokes and crude gags. But perhaps the best thing about the game is how it expands on the universe that Perfectly Paranormal is building. It’s said that God created man in his image, and once you’ve spent a while in Heaven and Hell it makes a lot of sense, the denizens of the Afterlife are a flawed bunch, and thus so are the humans.”

“In conclusion, The Holy Gosh Darn is a great addition to the Tuesday trilogy. If you’ve played the previous games you’re going to be content with this when you pick it up. For newcomers, nothing is stopping you from jumping in here and then moving on to the other titles. If the trailer below entices you to check out the game, you can expect more of the same absurdity and comedy throughout. I applaud the twists and turns of the story which kept me on my toes. There’s a clever re-use of locations as the story progresses which rewards a keen eye and good memory. The humour was also consistently good, managing to be entertaining even when the game is trying to frustrate you by delaying you in extended conversations and scenarios. I’ve been going back and forth on what award to give this. If you’re a fan of the previous games, this is an essential buy. If you’re new, and the trailer appeals, I’d say you should absolutely give it a go.”

“The Holy Gosh Darn is yet another confirmation of the talent of Norwegian studio Perfectly Paranormal. A graphic adventure somewhere between platformer and puzzle game that is deeply inspired by time loop comedies, graced by an impeccable script, extraordinary voice acting and irresistible comedy. It may not be in everyone's cup of tea, complicit with some sensitive and delicate themes at times. And undoubtedly there are other exponents of the genre that are more down-to-earth from a playful point of view. But Cassiel's odyssey deserves to be experienced, in your armchair at home -- with the rewind ready.”
