How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 95% | 90 | 17 |

“Sometimes between big and bombastic games like Horizon Forbiden West and Elden Ring you just want to experience something with a smaller scale, and Far: Changing Tides is a perfect game for this exact purpose. You can finish it in around 3 hours, but the melancholic feels the game provides won't leave you for quite a while.”

“Far: Changing Tides is an interesting simplistic game with a great atmosphere. You will spend most of the time on your travels admiring the beautiful graphics and solving puzzles. However, the developers have gone a little further than they should with their artistic ambitions, and even if you're a fan of similar relaxing games, you may get bored at times.”

“Simple, poetic, beautiful and non-didactic journey into an (almost) depopulated world.”

“Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, FAR: Changing Tides offers an amazingly adventurous journey set against the backdrop of an even more beautiful, ruined world. Since the last installment, the developers have addressed the shortcomings of the first game and added a wealth of new content and mechanics. However, this has made the game more complex, resulting in a loss of that meditative atmosphere. Despite all that, it’s an excellent game that will surely find its rightful place in your heart and in your game library.”

“A wonderful experience from the moment you set sail, FAR: Changing Tides builds out the world and gameplay ideas of its predecessor with scale, detail and awesome moments of discovery. Okomotive has started with its original neat mechanic about a left-to-right juggernaut, then taken it in every other direction it could go.”

“Picking up roughly where the original FAR left off, and generally offering up a very similar (though longer and refined) experience, Changing Tides doesn’t reinvent the post-Apocalyptic wheel but it also didn’t need to...”

“Despite the little niggles, FAR: Changing Tides is a delightful game that will work your brain and make you sit up and take notice of the world around you. The mechanics are well thought out and common sense will help you through in the majority of situations. I would highly recommend that before playing this game you do play the prequel as it will help you understand what is expected of you and I am glad I did that before sitting down to play and review this sequel. Overall this a game that is a voyage of discovery well worth persevering with and the rewards far outweigh the occasional gripes.”

“Far: Changing Tides may be familiar to those who played the original, but it's just as soothing and enjoyable a trip as ever.”

“FAR: Changing Tides is largely more of the same. With how good the first title is, that's not a bad thing, but it leaves a little something to be desired. Great sound design and music, as well as incredible environmental art, don't quite balance out the pacing issues, hard as they try. Your new vessel has more components to juggle than last time, and it's mechanically satisfying, but you spend too much time doing it. While traveling underwater does add a new gameplay component to account for, the puzzles don't offer enough of a challenge. All that said, Changing Tides is still worth your time.”

“Far: Changing Tides largely sticks to the same recipe as its predecessor, making its vessel more complex and sending players on a journey through a different world. Its description as a companion game is fitting, although you will get slightly more out of it if you play the series in order, and while I loved the original, the sequel didn't grab me as much.”

“At the end of a trip it is normal to ask yourself what was it worth it? The answer is yes, with a more than successful duration so that it does not become repetitive, an entertaining game dynamic and everyone sea to reflect, FAR: Changin Tides is an adventure easily recommended for any type of player. ”

“A lonely but beautiful world. "Far: Changing Tides" is a sailing adventure game that calmly expresses the world that has already destroyed. And this game showed that post-apocalypse can also be beautiful. The lyrical graphics and sounds from the previous work have been upgraded. However, there are a lot of repetitive controls to handle the much larger map, which makes the game a bit boring.”
