How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Krut: The Mythic Wings is a very pretty but brutally difficult action platformer based on Thai mythology. The game can be completed in under 10 hours, but the bulk of that time will be spent tediously grinding for better gear to advance past even the common enemies. For the hard-core gamers only.”

“I definitely ended up with some feelings with this one, and unfortunately for the most part they aren't flattering...”

“Krut: The Mythic Wings is an alright game but fails to do anything new and feels incredibly repetitive after a while.”

“Krut: The Mythic Wings could have been a really fun no thrill hack and slash platformer if it just tidied up some of its gameplay designs. It kinda feels like it’s just stuck in the past and not in a good way. This is a game that might have worked if it was released in the 90s on the Mega Drive. With combat that feels more of a slog than satisfying. Horribly cheap enemies and a maddening upgrade system make for an unpleasant formula that is hard to recommend even at the low price point on offer. The game has an excellent graphical style but this is one title based on mythology that I would rather read about than play.”

“As a game full of predictable combat and only six stages, there's not a lot to Krut: The Mythic Wings. Depending on the difficulty setting, beating the game will likely only take an hour or two. The story is interesting, but it takes up more of the content than the actual gameplay. The flaws are only somewhat made up for by the unique and visually appealing environments for each stage. Overall, Krut: The Mythic Wings offers some casual fun, but it's very short and lacks combat variety.”

“Krut: The Mythic Wings is not a downright awful game. Out of so many games released in 2022, it’s nowhere near as infuriating as crap like Postal 4 and Destroy All Humans!, Clone Carnage. It has some interesting ideas and I like its premise, but this is a textbook example of a game completely devoid of redeeming factors when it comes to its execution. Average-at-best visuals, a weak framerate, no interesting sound capabilities to speak of, and a really poor combat system all result in a very harmless yet underwhelming experience.”

“Krut: The Mythic Wings isn’t a terrible game, there’s nothing outright awful about it, but it’s sub-par in every single way. So, unless you’ve seen the animated film that it’s based on and really want to immerse yourself in its world a little more, it’s best to give it a wide berth. Though even then, we can’t imagine anyone genuinely having fun with it.”

“With a price tag of even just $10, I can’t say that Krut: The Mythic Wings is worth it. Even the time investment of playing the game is a deterrent, as it will only remind you that there are better titles you could be playing instead.”

“I truly wanted to love Krut: The Mythic Wings, but ultimately, it’s a title that is extremely difficult to recommend. With its bare-bones combat, imprecise platforming, and an over-reliance on grinding, it completely squanders the potential of its narrative and setting. Whilst there is some fun to be had with the boss fights, the fleeting moments of joy provided by these encounters are completely overshadowed by what a drag the rest of the experience is.”

“Krut: The Mythic Wings is a retro-inspired side-scrolling adventure title. Its simple gameplay is reminiscent of the best Sega Mega Drive games. However, it is disappointingly repetitive and this reduces its potential.”

“Krut: The Mythic Wings uses an animated Thai film to create a 2D adventure.”

“There are few things that work well in Krut: The Mythic Wings, from a horrible and poorly executed combat system, to poor graphics and poor performance, to poorly designed gameplay and level structure. The best thing about the title is seeing how the Thai scene begins to rise little by little, but this game is not the best example of it.”
