How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“RoboCop: Rogue City may not boast the high production quality of a top level “AAA” videogame, but it’s more fun and shows more sincerity than most of them put together. What it lacks in polish it more than makes up for in its provision of fuss-free action with immensely satisfying weaponry alongside the occasional glimmer of witty writing. It’s nowhere near as beautifully satirical as the film from which it sprung, but it’s still made with clear love for the original, as well as a ton of sincerity.”

“RoboCop: Rogue City is another decently crafted game adaptation of a movie brand from Teyon studio. The game doesn't bring revolutionary design or gameplay. Instead, it does a great job of capturing the atmosphere of the original films and adds side quests that make you feel like a real RoboCop.”

“RoboCop: Rogue City is a great example of a strong, if a little unremarkable game that uses all its potential and budget to build a great atmosphere and stand proud as the best RoboCop game ever made.”

“But all that feels incongruent with the game’s source material. Perhaps it’s a bit naïve to hope that any social commentary can survive decades of franchising, but Rogue City’s handling of RoboCop leaves hardly a trace of his origins as a commentary on police violence and militarization. All the time you spend clomping around the faithfully rendered interior of the police station is in service of selling the cops as a force for good, with RoboCop’s actions emphatically meant to make the world a better place. There’s even a dialogue option to call the police a “family,” now totally decoupled from standard sci-fi corporate malfeasance. Rogue City has clearly put a lot of thought and effort into replicating the world of this character, but it does so within a mechanical and narrative framework that never quite fits.”

“RoboCop: Rogue City is an excellent game that blends design ingenuity, fan enthusiasm, and attention to detail while exploring the fictional world of RoboCop. One could justifiably criticize the storyline for playing it safe and tending to repeat or vary what players already know from the first two movies, but that doesn’t detract from the sheer amount and intensity of fun to be had while playing. With this title, Teyon Studio has established itself among the developers from whom even the most discerning player can expect high-quality results.”

“This might be the best interpretation and adaptation of the RoboCop IP, as well as the greatest RoboCop game to date. Even though the gameplay can feel janky at times, Rogue City still offers a unique experience that you shouldn’t miss, especially if you’re a fan of the franchise.”

“RoboCop Rogue City is a nice nostalgia hit to yesteryear but focuses too much on the classic and not the modern to make it entertaining enough. At £45 it could be worth the price, but with such a short runtime and unappealing replays, you might not get your money to an hour’s worth. There’s room for expansion and even DLCs, but I’d suggest you wait for more patches to fix the stability issues.”

“A game that knows how to pay homage to RoboCop and bring us the nostalgia of the late 80's and early 90's, with spectacular action moments and other calm moments of investigation and patrolling, which will be like a dream for the most loyal fans and a good way to introduce this iconic character to new generations. ”
