How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“In some ways, I feel like Rebirth of Souls was packaged neatly but ultimately rushed. The online PvP mode is cool, and it's fun to see how characters stack up against each other, but many people will clamor for a ranking mode, as all that’s here currently is casual play. I do find myself enjoying this fighting experience despite knowing it can evolve to higher combat heights. The cast is incredible for a first outing, and if Bandai Namco does greenlight a sequel, these characters will be more finely tuned and hopefully can duke it out in stage-destroying experiences. If you love Bleach, you’ll definitely find the right character for your enjoyment, and that is more reason to play it.”

“BLEACH Rebirth of Souls is the definitive video game experience for the franchise, but that doesn't mean it's a success. Although it offers a good adaptation of the anime as far as possible, as well as a combat system that's different from other arena fighters, the game has several flaws, such as its dated graphics, poor optimization on PC, lack of game modes, and an online mode that didn't work in my experience. Even with all these problems, it's possible that the experience will please longtime fans, even if it's far from perfect.”

“Bleach: Rebirth of Souls offers fans of the series the chance to experience Ichigo Kurosaki’s adventures and try out other favorite characters as well. The game combines a story mode with online and offline battles, providing a varied gaming experience. High-quality Japanese voice acting and a great soundtrack contribute to the authentic atmosphere, although the system for earning keys to progress through the game may feel restrictive to some players. Overall, it’s a solid title for fans of the Bleach universe, though it does have its shortcomings.”

“Rebirth of Souls takes some risks that pay off. Although a bit too complicated and poorly explained, its fighting system ends up being quite satisfying. It's a well-thought-out fighting game that could have used more of the 'oomph' Bleach deserves, but is still a welcome addition to the market, which hasn't seen many titles from this series in a long time.”

“After 14 years, it’s surreal to finally have another Bleach game to sink my teeth into, and Rebirth of Souls doesn’t disappoint. It’s a love letter to the series, packed with great storytelling, fun combat, and an impressive presentation that captures everything I love about Bleach.”

“Bleach Rebirth of Souls is a great homage to fans of the anime and manga series, adapting most of the story arcs while adding a few new ones. While most of the story has been summarized, the way it is told is very weak, with well-made but poorly animated 3D models. The combat is suitable for newcomers to fighting games, with not too many combos to learn and more strategy to exploit. Unfortunately, the online component doesn't have much to offer, and with a disastrous launch on PC it certainly didn't help players to grow fond of the title.”

“For years, BLEACH fans have begged for a proper game. Something that captures the flashiness, depth, and pure anime nonsense of the series. And while Rebirth of Souls isn’t perfect, it lacks ranked play, crossplay, and a truly great story mode, it’s still the best BLEACH game we’ve ever had.”

“There's something really compelling at the core of Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, but it struggles to emerge amidst half-baked mechanics and a general lack of depth. The game wows over the first few hours with slick visuals and a varied character roster, but it just doesn't have the content to keep anyone but the most hardcore Bleach fans hooked. While it's great to see Tite Kubo's edgy blockbuster back in action, Rebirth of Souls will go down as a flashy fighter that never realised its potential.”

“Bleach Rebirth of Souls delivers a faithful yet shallow story mode and repetitive combat, wasting the potential of its characters and 3D battles despite solid content variety.”

“Bleach Rebirth of Souls is an arena fighting game with dynamic gameplay and a focus on staying true to the anime. Featuring a diverse cast, it offers an engaging experience that will surely please fans but may not be the game for those looking for something more complex.”

“Bleach: Rebirth of Souls’ satisfying roster and flashy combat makes the most out of these characters’ abilities but simplistic combat and bare-bones modes do little to support a solid story mode.”
