How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Creator reviews (1 tracked) | – | 84 | 0 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 85% | 79 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 82 | 7 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 83% | 77 | 6 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“While Crysis: Warhead doesn’t really bring anything new to the series gameplay-wise, the expanded-upon storyline and better pacing of the game will intrigue any that enjoyed the original Crysis.”

“If you take a fabulous game with astonishing graphics, good sounds and gameplay and add a new story, the result will be more than satisfying.”

“Crysis: Warhead offers another six hours of more open-world shooting at a bargain price. Still a shame about the aliens. [Nov 2008, p.102]”

“An exemplary game to hold aloft as a challenge to future game creators to either match or exceed.”

“The original Crysis may have given you the basic tools, but Warhead allows you to really use them, and while its previous titles made it clear that Crytek knew technology like few others, it's this strange off-shoot Warhead that proves it's no slouch when it comes to level design and set-pieces either.”

“It's more focused, it's more intense, and though it doesn't provide as much of the sandbox feel as Crysis veterans would wish for, it still delivers on every other front.”

“The strongest aspects of Crysis Warhead are the same ones we already loved with Crysis itself: The Graphics are stunning, the story is solid and the gameplay’s challenging and fun, but at the same time these pros are the only big contra: there’s nothing really new about this game, which, on the other hand, might again be good news for fans of the first part.”

“Great stand alone expansion that offers an explosive story mode and a polished multiplayer mode, provided you got the gear to run it in a playable manner.”

“It doesn’t really push the genre any further forward in terms of gameplay, and as such loses some of the jaw-drop factor that Crysis brought to the market in spades. But then, it isn’t designed to be groundbreaking. It’s designed to preach to the choir. [Dec 2008, p.69]”

“If you enjoyed the original Crysis and are a fan of the big ‘Summer’ action game, this is the game to pick up, especially at its low price tag and wonderful multiplayer.”

“Crysis Wars is fun, and although it didn’t keep me glued to the monitor like the multiplayer component in Call of Duty 4 did, I do appreciate its merits.”
