How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 really improves almost every aspect of its already very good predecessor. Looking at the whole thing more calmly, we of course see the flaws, but it's hard to ignore the enormous amount of effort, passion, and heart put into this project.”

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is best enjoyed as a kind of Renaissance Faire rather than a 15th-century simulator. The game is at its best when it gives players freedom to explore. Sadly, the main quest has too many pain points where player autonomy is stripped, in favor of a trope-heavy narrative that feels ripped from a 2004 comedy sketch. Its best moments are rare, but when they do land, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II rivals the feeling of playing Red Dead Redemption or Oblivion for the first time.”

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is the perfect case of when any high score doesn't really clear the picture. Is a 9 simply too high of a praise? One may say so. While another would say that even a 10 just don't do this game enough justice.”

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a natural evolution of the first game, which now fully develops its original vision. It brings a deeper story, historical fidelity, and dramatization of the action. The beautiful backdrops of Bohemian Paradise and Guttenberg complement improved combat, creative quests, and sophisticated dialogue choices. While the game maintains its authentic RPG style, it also pushes the boundaries of the genre and shows how Warhorse continues to improve in narrative and game design.”

“An absolute masterpiece, a living classic, stunningly deep and engaging RPG, all and all, a must-play for the fans of the genre.”

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an excellent sequel to an already extraordinary game. Not only is it bigger and more spectacular, as one would expect from any sequel, but above all, it fixes most of what was broken in the first game and adds what was missing from it. Blacksmith Jindra can now actually forge his own metal tools, he can be accompanied by a dog that isn’t tied to specific locations, the crime and punishment system is significantly more sophisticated, and the quests are more complex. The menu has also been improved. However, combat, enlivened by the addition of crossbows and handguns, has largely retained the clunkiness of the first game. One could complain about the character animations or the certain chaos prevailing in the open world, but these would be petty criticisms. There aren’t many other games that have so successfully combined a masterfully told story with the freedom to approach problem-solving in one’s own way.”

“Bigger and more polished, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is exactly what I expected from a sequel to one of my favorite RPGs. Its system heavy approach turns even the most mundane action something special. It’s one of those rare games that you will dedicate hours and hours and feel like you only scratched the surface of it. Although its main quest still has some pacing issues, it’s a must play for any RPG fan.”

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an epic medieval RPG that excels in immersion, both in its narrative and historical setting. Sometimes the former two hold it back from being the best RPG of the year. The game is a slave to its mechanics and systems, some of which feel tedious and slow, and the combat is, at least for me, punishing and clumsy, as if I’m awkwardly puppeteering Henry from behind, flailing his arms in battle. But nothing a bit of modding did not fix.”

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn't a game that should attract every kind of player, but even though you might have avoided the first part for whatever reason, you definitely should give the sequel a chance. It is a much more spectacular, bigger in every way mega-game that stands out from its peers.”

“Although the game adheres to a strict philosophy of medieval realism, and, as such, includes some trying sections, particularly for certain builds, there is just nothing else quite like it. Steeped in historical fact, and allowing for a deep level of role-playing immersion, the continuation of Henry of Skalitz’s tale is a masterclass of storytelling filled with an unforgettable cast of characters, many of whom are pulled straight from the pages of history.”

“I love the immersive experience and exploration of Kingdom Come Deliverance, and those are some of the elements that were carried over to this sequel. Kingdom Come Deliverance II does not reinvent the wheel, nor does it try to. Warhorse Studios knew what were the strong points of the first game and focused on them, which for better or for worse, puts this sequel on par with its predecessor, minus the element of surprise that the studio had back in 2018.”

“Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an incredible RPG masterpiece. It offers so much freedom and the ability to make your own decisions and be left to deal with the consequences, good or bad. And that’s quite refreshing these days. It’s deep, immersive and driven by its characters and interactions.”
