How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (Metacritic) | – | – | 0 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 83% | 76 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 81% | 75 | 3000 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“With all this and probably more coming to Friends vs Friends, this game is one of a kind while taking on the basics of gun warfare as seen in online PvP games such as Fortnite or Valorant, minus the map size and loot boxes, while smoothly integrating deckbuilding aspects into the game. This game is a fantastically chaotic game to play with friends or solo that will keep you occupied for hours.”

“Friends vs Friends is a solid multiplayer shooter with a ton of style with a focus on casual pvp. Casual players as well as sweats should find plenty to enjoy in this funky deck building shooter.”

“With an original mix of deck-building and FPS, Friends vs Friends brings a fresh coat of paint to the PvP shooter genre and is a title with some promise if it can keep its player base engaged.”

“Friends vs Friends has a good foundation and concepts that could make for a quirky shooter. But it needs many further patches that change combat balance, progression, and an introduction of new features and modes. Currently, this feels like an Early Access game, which needs additional work. Those with three or more friends who are interested should consider purchasing multiple copies or hold off on Friends vs Friends entirely.”

“Quick to learn, quick to play and delivering large doses of fun regardless of whether you're trying to master it or just seeing how many insane card effects you have in a single match, Friends vs Friends is a gem of a PvP shooter that can easily keep you sucked in for lengthy sessions.”

“Friends vs Friends is the ideal option for anyone who loves a good indie and loves to exchange fire with friends. As the name implies, teaming up friends against friends has never been so much fun. Expect a fun and compact experience, without many surprises, but with a lot of visual identity and very creative ideas on how you can overcome your friends with card abilities or your aiming skill.”

“Multiplayer shooter meets deck building in a strange mix that actually works. Fun, intense, and as original in its concept as in its art.”
