How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 80% | 74 | 1290 |

“LEGO Bricktales combines the toys' fun theme sets with creativity-forward puzzle solving, creating the purest interpretation yet of LEGO into video game form.”

“LEGO Bricktales takes the simple building blocks we know and love and wraps them within a cute puzzle environment. The satisfying builds and relaxing setting result in a journey into every kid's dream: living in a world made of LEGO.”

“LEGO Bricktales scores where it matters most, and that's good. It's just a shame that it's a title wrapped around mediocre content that doesn't always work in its favor.”

“LEGO Bricktales ultimately left me with mixed feelings. Although the graphics are solid, the puzzles are quite inventive, and the game is entertaining for a few hours, the unpolished technical aspects combined with the rather strictly limited gameplay give the impression of untapped potential. If you like LEGO and want to try a more original puzzle game, feel free to give Bricktales a shot, but you’re better off waiting for a sale. At thirty euros for about fifteen hours of one-time, slightly repetitive fun, the developers have definitely overpriced it.”

“LEGO Brickstales captures the fun and creativity of LEGO really well. Unfortunately, this fun but flawed construction-based puzzle game struggles to live up to the potential it shows in its first few hours. ”

“Lego Bricktales isn't perfect, but it offers up a refreshingly unique experience relative to the litany of action platformers based on licensed IP we've been getting for nearly two decades now. We sincerely appreciated the focus on low-stress building puzzles that encourage and reward creative solutions. It's the kind of game that you just take at your own pace and lose yourself for a bit to the relaxing tunes and simple act of building. It's a shame, then, that awkward controls hamper your creativity and hold it back from greatness. Couple that with performance issues on Switch, and we'd recommend playing on PC if you can. Still, Bricktales is the closest thing in years that a Lego video game has gotten to the actual feeling of playing with Lego, and those of you who appreciate the famous toy will find something to love here.”

“LEGO Bricktales is still a fun time to be had. Whether it's the soft-but-distinct "click" sound you hear when you're piecing LEGO bricks together, or you spend way too much time with a puzzle you solved hours ago because you want to stack it up with more vertical bricks, you'll have a ball with this relaxing building simulator.”

“Finally, a LEGO game that truly captures the essence of both its creative and functional play in digital form”

“A nice-looking little game, and the idea of solving puzzles by building things out of LEGO bricks is great. However, LEGO Bricktales simply lacks in story and almost everything else that could have made it a more interesting product. Here's to hoping that the idea gets revisited and improved in the future.”

“Lego Bricktales returns the IP to its block-placing origins with fun puzzles that can certainly challenge the mind. While it doesn't allow you to do whatever you want, the satisfaction that comes with problem-solving each puzzle is quite notable.”

“This malleable gameplay is the crown jewel on what would otherwise have been an average exploration-adventure title. The presentation is excellent, and the colour palette is vibrant and exciting, but the moments where you have to figure out how to build something are the moments sure to stick with you.”

“LEGO Bricktales is a creative concept that takes advantage of the brand on which it is based. The way it transported us back to childhood to reconnect with our inner child and remember how we build fantastic things is brilliant. We highly recommend it for anyone who wants to relax for a while.”
