How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a pretty decent evolution of the previously known platform fighter. If you're a fan of Nick's cartoons then you'll be right at home, fans of competitive and general brawling games will also find something to enjoy. The only major problem I have with NASB2 is the price, which is quite high and will probably scare off some players.”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 has the potential to be a strong platform fighter, but on Switch it's wrapped up in a frankly incredible amount of poor performance and presentation. Fighters feel weightier, and the new campaign adds context and charm to the package, but it'll take a miracle patch to save it from being a choppy, blurry, flat-looking barrel of disappointment on Nintendo's console.”

“A decent Super Smash Bros. clone that clearly improves on the first iteration, but Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is rife with problems on Nintendo Switch. The 30 frames per second gameplay, unbelievable load times, poor presentation, and glitches that force reboots of the game mean this isn't going to be a joyful time unless playing on one of the more powerful systems. Underneath the numerous issues, there is a fun time here, and crossplay will at least help ensure match-ups when battling online, but it is difficult to recommend this version of the game.”

“This game seems like a significant step forward for the franchise, offering a polished and engaging experience, especially for Nickelodeon fans and competitive players. A larger roster and more accessibility options could push it even higher.”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a much tighter, more focused platform fighter than the first entry in the series, with more gratifying combat and some truly imaginative move sets. Although its campaign is repetitive and there are frequent crashes to contend with, this sequel still manages to land a solid knockout blow here.”

“All-Star Brawl 2 feels like a Smash clone and not much more, but fans of Nicktoons should still find a lot to love in this package brimming with care and nostalgia.”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a fun game, but it won’t have that much of an impact, unlike its competitors. As mentioned previously, the element of DLC will probably help its lifespan, but it is very unlikely that we will ever see Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 show up at a large event like EVO. Going into the future of the series, it is quite clear what the team should really focus on.”

“Improved fighting mechanics and mode selection can't overcome some glaring weaknesses.”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl takes all the good of its predecessor and builds upon it quite a bit. The roster is varied, the additional modes go a long way in giving the game some extra juice, and the combat is smooth and exciting. There are some bugs here and there that hinder things, but I have confidence that the future of All-Star Brawl 2 is bright.”

“While some awkward controls and stiff animations keep this game from perfection, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is most definitely a title worth checking out. Fighting game fans and nostalgic Nickelodeon heads both have plenty to get out of this title, which makes great improvements over its successor. Plus any game with El Tigre in it is a good game in my book.”
