How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

All the requisite violence of the genre is there, but there's a well-considered style and grace that elevates it beyond its mindless, dime-a-dozen brethren.

In conclusion, we can say that the return of the Wolfenstein franchise was a success and killing Nazis has never been so fun! It lacked a localization for Brazil, but I understand that this is not that simple to do (but would it hurt to have translated subtitles at least?). Despite the theme being overused, by bringing BJ in the style of Inglourious Basterds with a story involving an alternative reality, the game wins you over at every stage, even more so when you combine this with solid gameplay, with few reservations. The addition of a stealth mode with a dedicated button helps a lot in the game's progression, increasing the player's approach options, bringing new experiences. Recommended!

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a game that never gets old. Although the game itself will offer you approximately twelve hours of shooting including an engaging story, its great options in difficulty choices and the search for collectibles will add dozens more hours of pure fun. This part is definitely one of the "must-play" games and is one of the best of the entire Wolfenstein series. Today it also has its sequel called Wolfenstein: The New Colossus.

In Wolfenstein: The New Order there is tactics, exploration and freedom, things from which modern shooters weaned us. To be humorous, it can be said that it is a corridor shooter, in which the corridors are very wide and full of nooks and crannies.

Wolfenstein: The New Order doesn't transcend either of its genres. It's another first-person shooter that's also just another victorious Nazi alternate timeline. It's proficient enough at both action and world-building to merit attention, though. It may not be a world I want to hang out in that often, but I'll at least try to save it once.

Wolfenstein: The New Order bids for flawless fun, with a mix of violence and black humour, with an irreverent result. However, there is a problem: the poor enemy AI is the most notable problem of a game which surpasses every expectation.

Beyond its mechanical parts, The New Order is a relief because it's a reminder that profundity doesn't necessarily need to be linked to big, universe-shattering ideas.

The greatest problem in Wolfenstein: The New Order, then, is a jarring inconsistency of tone and cohesion... It's almost as if there's a tug of war going between the big dumb shooter and the attempt to be subversive, with the result being a game that's not really slick enough to be an action classic, and not dramatic enough to draw you in.

There are some irritations relating to bosses, odd glitches and questionable AI at times, but this is a quality start for MachineGames, who should definitely be given a chance to work on a sequel built specifically for the newest set of home consoles.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a blast from the past that many will surely see as a breath of fresh air. While some archaic design choices and patience-testing difficulty spikes will attempt to compromise your enjoyment on occasion, the moments to follow generally smooth over any past transgressions.

A solid and surprising well-written shooter that should easily please fans of the genre. It doesn't do too much more than that, but that's not really a complaint.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a surprisingly strong shooter that aspires to be more than its premise should allow. While it can only do so much with its cliché magnet of a story, and its graphics don't hold up to close inspection at times, it's easy to overlook these shortcomings in the face of everything else that it does well. As a result, the inspired but disturbing world, excellent roster of characters, and exhilarating action make it very easy to recommend this over-the-top rampage.
