How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“UDO: Unidentified Drilling Object manages to have some success despite itself. While its numerous little issues accumulate into some unpolished real annoyances, it has that "one more time" element down, even with repetitiveness. I'm convinced there's enough good here that a sequel should jettison the roguelike confines. Udo deserves to be a proper platforming adventure where it can drill a more unique identity.”

“Mixing in an element of platforming action to the falling puzzle piece subgenre, UFO does its own thing”

“In terms of the overall performance of UFO: Unidentified Falling Objects, it is quite a neat take on the puzzle genre. Six different levels, lots of content to unlock, and every level having its own unique take on the challenges are very solid. From controls to movement, the gameplay is never interrupted, with no lag spikes or slowdowns. We wholeheartedly suggest it if you are itching for a puzzle game that has a high skill ceiling and replay value.”

“Unidentified Falling Objects (UFO) from developer Andrew Morrish is an addictive battle puzzle experience that balances a chaotic falling block battleground with an upgradable astronaut that can handle the insanity. While it doesn’t work in all areas, it does enough to warrant multiple playthroughs.”

“The gameplay loop to UFO: Unidentified Falling Objects is simple enough, but addicting, at least for a while. You can watch a trailer for this game, and you can even play for a little bit and think you know what you are doing, but you would be wrong. The further I dig into UFO the further it gets away from just being a casual puzzler. The online multiplayer would probably help drive that thought if I could find a match. This is a smaller title; its price reflects that, but in a good way. The gameplay is sharp, pixels even sharper, and just a fun time overall, just don't rely on playing online.”

“Unidentified Falling Objects mixes platforming and block destruction in a highly addicting experience. With many well-planned systems at its core, it's easy to recommend it to any player who likes arcade experiences, and constantly makes an effort to improve their scores.”

“Combining the world of puzzle games with platformers is an interesting proposition, but UFO: Unidentified Falling Objects manages to keep players engaged with intuitive controls, plenty of unlockables, and countless reasons to come back.”

“A platforming-puzzler with a keen eye for intricacy and trickery alike, UFO: Unidentified Falling Objects' addictive nature is somewhat dragged down by its occasional lack of appreciation for a players' own time.”
