How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Unrailed 2: Back on Track expands on its predecessor with deeper roguelike elements, varied biomes, and boss encounters, making each run unique. The core co-op gameplay of building tracks for an unstoppable train remains a chaotic, hilarious, and strategic challenge. While the solo experience with bots is functional, it lacks the genuine fun and emergent chaos of playing with friends. The game truly shines in multiplayer, where communication and shared failures create memorable moments. Despite a steep learning curve and occasional visual clutter, the satisfaction of overcoming impossible odds with a team makes it a standout party game.”

“Unrailed 2: Back on Track is even more fun than the already very entertaining first part. The gameplay is simple and very approachable but almost always ends up in complete and utter chaos (which we mean in the absolute best way possible). The many new, small and big, improvements to the gameplay itself as well as the overall progression through the game are very welcome and make Back on Track a super exciting game to play with friends either locally or online. If you are going to play this by yourself then you will have a better time than you had with “Unrailed” cause the singleplayer mode was also improved but this will never reach the always great chaos of playing with friends.”

“Unrailed 2: Back on Track is the evolution of the first title in the best possible way, enhancing the original chaos with a layer of challenge that can even be somewhat punishing for those playing alone, but is perfect for gathering a group of friends to take your train as far as possible… or let it catch fire while arguing about who should grab the bucket.”
