How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 84 | 200 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 96% | 90 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 88 | 325 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 94% | 89 | 153 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |
Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 88.6, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 14,083 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

“A fun LEGO twist on the iconic caped crusader’s tale, this game mixes solid combat with Gotham’s charms. Great for Batman fans seeking a lighthearted adventure. Legacy of the Dark Knight is TT Games’ most ambitious and most successful LEGO game in years, a genuine Batman experience wrapped in the LEGO brand’s best qualities, with a campaign that earns its runtime and a Gotham worth spending time in. Its weaknesses, the thin roster, the post-game content drop-off, the performance wrinkles, are real, but they don’t diminish what the game does right. Which is quite a lot.”

“LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight truly deserves to be recognized as a "love letter" to Batman. TT Games has delivered an engaging adventure for the whole family, albeit one incapable of offering any serious challenge to players.”

“The best Lego Batman game, with great humor, an atmospheric open world, and an incredible amount of fan service. At times, it's very reminiscent of Batman: Arkham, too bad the combat isn't as good.”

“The Dark Knight’s legacy goes extremely deep here, and it’s certainly not a bad thing that the developers want to make sure every player gets the most out of it before leaving them to their own devices.”

“TT Games has dismantled decades of Batman and reassembled them into something fresh, built on the best combat system ever seen in a LEGO game. It's not Arkham, but it's the closest thing available today, wrapped in the humor and content generosity only the LEGO brand can deliver. For Dark Knight fans, it's unmissable.”

“This is a really great game for all Batman fans. It can be a bit rough around the edges technically, and the gameplay is a bit too basic at times, but it’s hard not to appreciate just how much the developers love the Dark Knight in all his incarnations.”

“LEGO Batman: The Dark Knight’s Legacy is, without a shadow of a doubt, the finest brick-based incarnation of the Caped Crusader ever created. Traveller’s Tales has delivered an adventure brimming with personality, which celebrates decades of the character’s history through a reimagining that is both entertaining and, above all, faithful to the original material. However, those hoping to find the same depth and level of challenge as in the Arkham series may be disappointed.”

“Legacy of The Dark Knight is the ultimate love letter to everything Batman, from the original comics to the films and everything else surrounding this cornerstone of the DC universe, serving as a spiritual successor to the original Arkhamverse adventures. With an adventure spanning various eras, packed with jokes and references that pay homage to the original material, a superbly realised Gotham City brimming with content, and the return of Arkham-style combat, which I’d missed terribly, this title is a safe bet for anyone seeking quality action, whether playing solo or with friends, for both LEGO fans and Batman fans alike.”

“Lego Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight remains a Lego game, with all the usual strengths and weaknesses that come with that, but this also makes it highly accessible to everyone. The game especially shines in the sheer amount of love for the character that Traveller's Tales has poured into it, both through the all‑encompassing story and the Arkham‑style combat.”

“LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight delivers a highly entertaining and affectionate tribute to the Caped Crusader's history, skillfully combining the atmospheric essence of the Arkham series with LEGO’s signature, lighthearted humor. While its stealth mechanics fall flat and the repetitive open-world police alerts can feel bloated, the game shines through its visually stunning rendition of Gotham City, satisfying combat, and a brilliant musical score heavily inspired by the films. It stands as a rich, deeply satisfying experience that any dedicated Batman fan will thoroughly enjoy despite its minor flaws.”
