How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a strange attempt to create Destiny from a popular tactical shooter. A game has sufficient amount of the original mechanics, but drowning in bugs, weak story and terrible optimisation of the final product. If some of the bugs will be fixed sooner or later with patches, the empty world, boring missions and the lack of normal tactics will remain here forever.”

“Everything that Ghost Recon: Breakpoint does well, has already been done well in the Wildlands, or is a new feature with a big "but". Apart from a nicely crafted fictional world with a stronger story and a simple survival, Breakpoint doesn't innovate much. If you really enjoyed Wildlands, explored it through-and-through and want more of that - Breakpoint is a possible recommendation. Otherwise, you won't lose much if you skip this one.”

“A pile of ideas that are not connected to each other. Ubisoft had an opportunity to produce a perfect sequel to Wildlands, but instead they created something disconcerted and not even remotely fun.”

“Breakpoint’s fixed nature is at direct odds with its open-world design, and ultimately results in a game that less about realism than it is about imposing limits.”

“Breakpoint might feel like a step down from Wildlands at first with its gear level, but when the survival mechanics, as shallow as they might be, kicks in and you’re fighting your way through the jungle, it’s the best one since Advanced Warfighter.”

“Ghost Recon Breakpoint is coincidentally living up to its name, being a failure and potential gravedigger for the famous franchise. Riddled with Pay-to-Win microtransactions tacked on looter shooter gameplay and pretty under average storytelling, even Jon Berenthal wasn’t enough to arise this gameplay up to some decent playable heights.”

“Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is huge and quite scenic at times. Unfortunately, the world is bland and empty, the mechanics are flawed, and the gameplay is more irritating than fun. The developers have cobbled together too many things, without fully realizing any of them. If you want a spec-op experience, go back to Wildlands - the last true Ghost Recon installment. Breakpoint is the first game of the Ulbimate genre by Ubisoft - an empty shell with microtransactions.”

“Ghost Recon: Breakpoint tries to offer an improvement over the rest of the chapters of the saga but is overshadowed by technical and graphic failures that affect the gameplay of the game. Its tactical proposal is still one of the best on the market and its history fulfills its mission. ”

“Even when its exploration and shooting works, you'll only get some small sense of satisfaction. The only reason you're continuing is because of that "one more assault" Skinner box mentality that's in these loot-and-shoot ideas combined with open-world checklist obligations.”

“Ghost Recon Breakpoint has been one of the most disappointing titles of the year, and a significant step-back for the franchise, as well as the publisher.”

“The Ghost Recon series is now among the many franchises that provide just that: what started with Ghost Recon Wildlands has continued in Breakpoint, an open-world tactical shooter that feels great when the bullets start flying, but slowly loses its identity the moment you're caught in this endless gameplay circuit of looting gear to “improve” your character.”
