How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is the last of the Ace Attorney Switch remakes, but certainly not the least of them. Just make sure you're up-to-date on Ace Attorney 1-3 first, or you'll miss out on half the fun. The first game doesn't quite feel up to par with the series' best, but Investigations 2 certainly does, and might even be one of our favourites. We'll hold it! (heh) in our hearts forever.”

“Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is as much for fans of the franchise as it is for newcomers who have yet to get their hands on one of the license's titles. While it's much easier to understand the details of the storyline when you've already played the other games in the series, it's not a must. Especially as the gameplay is, in my opinion, more accessible, even if there are several puzzles to solve. The improvements in this port offer a real breath of fresh air to the original production, as well as being available in numerous languages. If the pace is a little more uneven than one of the main titles, it's a lot of fun to learn more about the character of Miles Edgeworth.”

“The Ace Attorney Investigations games are oddities. They're Ace Attorney games without the best thing about Ace Attorney games. They're a fresh start with a different protagonist, but you need to have played the old games to get the most out of them. The wider appeal seems limited here, but for existing fans of the franchise there's plenty to enjoy.”

“For those looking to get into the franchise, Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is not the ideal title for that, but it's practically a must for long-time fans. The stories are good, just like the games were before Apollo Justice, which, in my opinion, marked a decline in writing quality since then. The good humor and the most eccentric characters possible are guaranteed in both games of the collection.”
