How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Manic Mechanics is a fun party game with friends. Solo adventures can grow dull, but the gameplay is still chaotic with solid controls and unique levels.”

“No doubt inspired a bit by the likes of the Overcooked series, Manic Mechanics changes some elements up to reasonably stand on its own”

“Manic Mechanics is incredibly fun. Even though it's not the most original game, it has very few issues to hold it back. I can see myself sitting on the couch and replaying levels or having my friends join in and experience the chaos together.”

“Manic Mechanics is a reasonably sufficient attempt to do Overcooked! in a garage, but lacks the magic that made its influence such a classic. Entirely disposable fun for a weekend then, just don't be expecting your friends to be begging to play more next week.”

“Manic Mechanics is motor mayhem in every sense. In each neighbourhood, there are different vehicles and different challenges. Sometimes the levels were really enjoyable with a feel-good factor. At other points, they were too frustrating, and it took willpower to battle through. It’s a bit soulless for one to play, but it is definitely better with friends.”

“Classic co-op party-gaming fare that's unpretentious and very quick to pick up. It may be just a little too similar to Overcooked. but given how rare local co-op games are this is a welcome riff on a familiar theme.”

“Manic Mechanics is an engaging game that brings a fresh spin to the beloved couch co-op formula that players of the game Overcooked might be familiar with. While it may not be the most sophisticated game in its genre, it’s a fantastic addition to any gathering or party, as the game’s mechanics and quirky challenges will have you and your friends laughing and strategizing together as you work to become the ultimate mechanics of Octane Isle.”

“The game has been one of our favorites of the year and I look forward to hopefully seeing new content released for the game in the not-too-distant future.”

“Manic Mechanics is a simple, entertaining chaotic cooperative game that bets on some innovations during gameplay that highlight its competence. By avoiding excesses, it delivers family content full of entertainment, as well as an accessible solo experience.”

“Manic Mechanics is great for an afternoon of fun with a friend or someone new to this style of game, but with its limited content I struggle to see it making any meaningful waves. I would love to see the content expanded on in the future with DLC or a sequel. The game is unique and inventive within the structure that it was created. Given further iteration, I could see myself enjoying the Manic Mechanics world just as much as I enjoy Overcooked.”

“Using a recognizable theme, Manic Mechanics turns the work at a car repair shop into a fun experience. With simple mechanics, the title manages to offer balanced challenges in which players must fix engines, paint airfoils, and make electronic chips, all of it to repair vehicles and get the highest score. Even if it has a few issues, especially when it comes to online matches, it's still a good option for your library."”

“Manic Mechanics is a charming party game that takes a lot of inspiration from Overcooked, yet manages to stand on its own.”
