How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Madden 25 is a mixed bag. On one hand, the gameplay feels better than ever, with smoother animations, more intuitive passing mechanics, and updated features like "Boom Tech" that add a layer of authenticity to tackles. The pacing feels more thoughtful compared to the flashier College Football 25, and for some players, that’s a welcome change. But while Madden nails the on-field action, it falters elsewhere.”

“I confess that I was pleased with the result of EA SPORTS Madden NFL 25, also analyzing the immersive aspect of the game, which gained a new look, with varied broadcasts, renewed animations, new narrators and more realistic graphics, showing good potential of where this new generation can reach.”

“Madden NFL 25 is a step in the right direction for the franchise and we hope EA keeps this momentum going to make the next entry even better.”

“Madden NFL 25 is far from the feat, but there is finally an improvement in one important area: gameplay and physics. If this is the way, in the coming years we could see the best version of the franchise in the next years. Of course, the presence of more content is desired, especially in terms of game modes and notable changes in modes such as Franchise and Superstar, but that would be naive knowing the slump from which the IP is emerging. In the end, and just condemning the constant and annoying Ultimate Team ads, we have a good football game for this year's season and that, in this case, is very good news.”

“Madden NFL 25 has some highs and lows for sure. It is the only game in town, which means as long as it is better than 24, I will continue playing it. I enjoy the on-field action, which is the most important aspect each year. Still it feels on cruise control, which sucks. I want to see some real revelations in the game and presentation. Hopefully we get some true competition in the future as the team here clearly loves the game and knows how to make it fun.”

“Madden NFL 25 offers several improvements that dedicated fans of the annual sports franchise have requested for years However, it doesn't measure up to the high bar set by College Football 25. Only passionate pro football fans should pick this over EA's other football game.”

“Madden has never played better on the field, but that attribute feels like a would-be elite QB stuck behind a shaky O-line.”

“Madden 25 is, without a doubt, an improvement from its predecessor. With better physics and gameplay features, it’s a way better game than it was before. Not only that, the game also ups the realistic graphics that it already had, with more animations, better scans, and more attention to detail. However, the game still keeps up with its online-only game modes, which may put some people off, especially if they just want to play certain game modes, like Superstar Mode. Ultimately, however, when compared to EA’s other recently released football simulation, College Football 25, it feels a lot less authentic than it could’ve been.”

“Madden NFL 25 is doing something right this year and has listened to fan feedback. However, as is so often the case, they only listened with one ear and didn't really improve in every corner. This is particularly noticeable in Franchise mode and the mischievous focus on Ultimate Team. On the field, however, many of the changes are quickly noticeable for long-term fans and are welcome, although it has to be said that you get more fun for your money overall with the college version from the same company.”

“Madden NFL 25 can officially claim the crown as the most authentic Madden game of all time. It's like EA Orlando has taken the already incredible gameplay, visuals, animations, and more of last year's game placed them on the surgery table and given them a major facelift. However, despite some of the impressive additions that were made regarding the content, you might get the impression that having much more would've sufficed. Nonetheless, Madden NFL 25 is definitely a must-have.”

“Madden NFL 25 shows some improvement with better presentation and UX, reflecting EA Tiburon's partial responsiveness to player feedback. However, it’s still fundamentally Madden, familiar to veterans with both its strengths and weaknesses.”
