How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Infinity Nikki is a blast to play. It’s a super chill dress-up game with nice platforming and a compelling enough story to stick with for the long-haul. The combat is super basic and honestly, the worst part of the game. As far as Gachas go though, Infinity Nikki is a ton of fun. Sure, there are some issues with its core gameplay loop, and some annoyances here and there, but what’s here is enjoyable enough to make for a solid recommendation.

A worthy competitor to Genshin Impact. A big, beautiful and free game designed to absorb all your free time. If you don't have a strong desire to fill your wardrobe, then microtransactions won't cause any discomfort. For now.

Long story short, this free-to-play adventure game is as whimsical as it gets from its plot to the nature of the game. And that's not a bad thing, as long as it's pulled off right. Infinity Nikki's got substance to back up that style.

Infinity Nikki, even in this early phase of its lifespan, is utterly essential, assuming you can stomach the twee, whimsical tone to it all. Its cosy vibes will prove an acquired taste, but its attention to detail and commitment to keeping the player engaged during every minute of exploration is impeccable. Moreover, its visual presentation is up there alongside the best you'll find on PS5, an extraordinary achievement for a free-to-play game that also miraculously runs on mobile. Some control quandaries and an abundance of proper nouns prevent it from achieving perfection, but these are minor blemishes on an otherwise outstanding experience.

Infinity Nikki is an enchanting journey into a world filled with fantasy and color. With its mix of fashionable challenges, open-ended exploration and magical elements, the game offers an experience that is both relaxing and creative. The story starts strong with an engaging opening, but loses some depth as the game progresses. The world of Miraland is beautifully designed and invites us to immerse ourselves in its magic, even if it sometimes lacks interactivity and vivid details. The gameplay shines thanks to the variety of outfits and their creative uses. The magical abilities in particular make for exciting puzzles and varied exploration. However, the constant changing of outfits and the sometimes empty passages in the open world can slow down the flow of the game. The atmosphere is excellently supported by the music, the soundscape and the lovingly animated characters. Momo, our companion, also plays a central and charming role. The in-game store remains an element worth discussing: it is purely cosmetic, but makes it easier to complete collections, which some players may find an incentive to spend money. Infinity Nikki is not a perfect game, but one with a big heart. It is aimed primarily at fans of relaxed, creative adventures and those who enjoy strolling through a fairytale world while being enchanted by outfits and magic.

Infinity Nikki emerges as a fascinating study in contrasts, offering an experience that both delights and occasionally frustrates. At its core, the game successfully goes beyond the simple "dress-up game" label, delivering a surprisingly deep narrative experience wrapped in a visually stunning package, with a lot more to come in the future!

Infinity Nikki is part of a long legacy of games where fashion is a central part of the experience, and because of this, it may initially come across as it would only appeal to the “girly-pops.” But beneath this facade lies an innovative, open-world experience that anyone who enjoys a lighthearted adventure can get behind. It gives you so much freedom that you will spend a lot of your time seeing what the world has to offer. Infinity Nikki completely blew away my expectations out of the water, and it’s worth checking out, especially when you consider the game is free-to-play.

Infinity Nikki is filled to the brim with fashion and fun; play as pink-haired Nikki and her cat Momo as they explore different places, solve wacky puzzles, and collect a number of clothes to show off their sense of style. There are also picture challenges, magical hopscotch, and non-combat purifying mechanics in Infinity Nikki for casual players to enjoy.
