Review sentiment over time

Weekly positive-review rate (green) and review volume (bars). Dashed lines mark significant patches; the amber line is the start of the current scoring window. Hover the dots to see what drove a dip or a jump.

How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Deadzone: Rogue delivers a tight, rewarding loop that’s easy to pick up and hard to put down. Deadzone: Rogue might not break the mould, but it sure knows how to fill it with bullets, scrap, and just enough chaos to keep you hooked. Between the crunchy gunplay, sneaky upgrades, and co-op nail-biters, it’s the kind of game that whispers “just one more run” until you realise it’s 2am and you’ve unlocked a perk called Double Dash. Worth it.

Fans of roguelite games can’t get enough of Deadzone: Rogue‘s “just one more run” loop. It moves smoothly, the gunplay feels powerful, and the synergy system makes building different characters fun. As you’re in the middle of a run, enemies are coming at you from all sides, and your guns are chaining lightning across the screen. This is when the game really shines.

Deadzone: Rogue offers a fast-paced and enjoyable shooting experience. While it may be simple and somewhat repetitive, it delivers solid action for fans of roguelike games. It won’t impress you with its story or visuals, but it makes up for it with weapon variety and satisfying challenge. A game worth trying if you're looking for something different and lightweight.

Deadzone: Rogue was worth the wait. It has an addictive gameplay loop that will keep you coming back even after you die again and again, and there's always something new to upgrade or check out with every attempt.

Satisfying gunplay and a nice pace. Cross-platform support is something that should always be available on Switch, there are no online crowds, and here they've provided a full range of control options. If the AI were better and the environments weren't so repetitive, it would be a hit.

Deadzone: Rogue does not ask for excuses. It's fun; it's chaotic. If you're looking for a fast, clean FPS with a roguelite backdrop, tight gunplay, and progression that doesn't treat you like a spreadsheet, $20 is an absolute steal. It's just a solid game that's flying under the radar right now.

Creating a strong roguelike experience is never an easy task, and while Deadzone: Rogue is far from perfect, particularly in its level design, it still delivers a thrilling and engaging shooter, demonstrating real potential and making it clear that Prophecy Games is moving in the right direction.

Deadzone: Rogue offers a strong level of replayability for anyone who enjoys roguelites. You could, in theory, clear the campaign in four to six hours once you know what you are doing, but getting there takes time, learning, and plenty of failed runs along the way. The shooting mechanics are tight, the gameplay is fun, and while it does not make the strongest first impression, the systems and progression have a way of slowly sinking their teeth into you. What starts off feeling familiar gradually turns into something that is hard to put down. Deadzone: Rogue is a strong addition to the roguelite shooter space and well worth your attention.

"An addictive roguelike shooter" Deadzone: Rogue offers a compelling blend of the fast-paced action of FPS games and the depth of roguelike mechanics. Its smooth shooting, extensive character customization, and cooperative gameplay make for a dynamic and addictive experience. Despite some narrative and environmental shortcomings, its consistent performance, engaging gameplay mechanics, and rewarding progression system provide a solid foundation for future expansion. It's a game that respects the player's time and delivers excellent value, establishing Prophecy Games as a key player in the genre.

Through its stellar use of the roguelite formula and ability to build your loadout in such rapid fashion, Deadzone: Rogue provides a compelling shooting experience that I look forward to firing up for a few runs every day. But it's not just the structure that has its hooks in me; the shooting mechanics, varied enemy types, and the compelling narrative mystery all coalesce into one of my favorite shooters in recent years.

Deadzone: Rogue carefully combines FPS conventions with roguelite goodness through fleshed-out gunplay, hyper-focused builds from the plethora of perks, and a cozy overarching hub for upgrades. Even the few failures in level design and bit of boredom this title does face, can’t deny the sheer enjoyment it will bring you.
