How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is an ambitious title that took one-note jokes way too far, and its constant source of manufactured tension sadly overshadows most of the good on offer here. This courier is anything but dull, but the chaotic frustrations will cause many prospective clients to look elsewhere.

Is Calamity Angels: Special Delivery worth picking up? You might find the gameplay to be way too easy at times, but the game has a lot of charm. For $30, it’s pretty good since you can get between 15 and 20 hours out of it. You might also enjoy it a lot more if you think of it as less of a regular game and more of an interactive anime.

Calamity Angels: Special Delivery brings some unique ideas and a loveable cast of weirdo characters to the table. I just wish it brought more interesting and engaging gameplay and combat along with it.

There’s some charm here in Calamity Angels: Special Delivery, and I can’t deny that I liked spending time with the cast, but its gameplay keeps getting in its own way. The game has a fun concept and a strong personality, yet the random combat and repetitive delivery loop make it harder to enjoy than it should be. It’s not terrible, but it never rises above being a mildly entertaining JRPG that feels stuck so down below its potential.

Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is a game that shines more in concept than in execution.

Although not particularly brilliant, Calamity Angels: Special Delivery still offers a few hours of fun thanks to a likable cast of characters and a clear gameplay loop.

Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is a title that focuses entirely on a strong idea and a rather original combat system, but which could have dared more.

I have to say I did enjoy my time with Calamity Angels: Special Delivery. The story isn’t that deep but the characters make up for it. It has an okay soundtrack with some good voice acting, and while the combat is random it is sorta fun to see what kinda crazy move these over-the-top characters are going to pull off next. If you like RNG and board game style games, this one is a no brainer. At the $29.99 price tag, you’re gonna have a lot of fun here. If these things aren’t your jam, you may want to hold out for IFI’s next offering.

For those interested in the game's premise, go ahead. The world definitely needs more delivery drivers who treat packages with care.

Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is a fun, bite-sized experience. It may make some not too happy about the number of things reliant on your luck and mood, but it was enjoyable.

First and foremost, Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is a comedy game and it delivers (sorry) on that foundation exceptionally well as it'll constantly make you laugh out loud if you don't take it too seriously. Even though it gets repetitive, you'll still make plenty of memories. 📦
