How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| All-time Steam reviews | 90% | 84 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 85 | 98 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 94% | 88 | 115 |

“Feels like a tiresome retread, enjoyable enough when it sticks to the old script, but frustrating in its disappointment when it does attempt anything new. With a rushed story, colorless characters, and total misuse of a whole new playable character, the best I can say is that I didn’t hate it. I didn’t particularly like it, but I didn’t hate it. Dishonored deserves more than that.”

“On paper, Dishonored 2 is a marked improvement on almost everything the original game brought to the table.”

“With amazing moment to moment gameplay and great level design, Dishonored 2 is worth checking out provided you have the means to play it. Dishonored 2 iterates and innovates in equal measure, resulting in an almost addictive quality to the proceedings that few can match.”

“Dishonored 2 is a well made but safe sequel. You won't find a revolution here only minor improvements to well known mechanics. Of course there are some new things but most of them will be appreciated only by true veterans of the previous game. Fortunately, Arkane's new game surprised me more than once and all in all left a very good impression. But it could have been so much more.”

“It may not surprise as much as the first one and almost every aspect is the original ideas enhanced. However, it has been four years already and Dishonored 2 leaves another good impression on us due to its macabre visuals, the stunning visuals of a city much more interesting tan Dunwall and even more creative gameplay possibilities. Corvo and Emily are up to two different journeys, suggesting that Arkane Studios is a team to watch in the future.”

“An interesting idea, but not a very good game. I enjoyed watching it for an hour but replaying it became very frustrating. Bandersnatch did a similar idea and doesn’t require a direct purchase price.”

“Don't get disappointed by a plot that is as far from ambitious, original, and engrossing as possible, because, as gameplay goes, few can hold a candle to Arkane Studios' Dishonored 2's level of replayability, non-linearity, and just plain fun. As for the gripes concerning the inexcusable framerate drops, follow this simple advice: wait a while, and then jump right in, because this isn't a title that's worth avoiding just because of its current technical issues.”

“Make no mistake: Dishonored 2 is an exquisite game that's likely to please anyone who enjoyed its predecessor. That's assuming they can play it at a reasonable framerate, though, and right now that's a pretty hefty assumption.”

“Dishonored 2 is the result of a classic sequel. A sequence that, unlike many games these days, has not changed altogether, but is considered a more beautiful, exciting and complete version of the first game.”

“By throwing you into its gloriously open missions with a bag full of tricks, running wild in Dishonored 2's fascinating world of stealth playgrounds never fails to be both fun and challenging. While anyone who doesn't have the patience for its particular brand of methodical exploration will likely find the experience tedious, if you can commit to trying to ghost your way through its lengthy campaign, even disappointing shortcomings, especially in terms of its story, likely won't stop you from having a whale of a time.”

“Dishonored 2 is an improvement over the original game in every sense of the word. Its real value lies in the fact that it offers unique and rewarding game experiences for any type of player, whether you like to murder everyone on sight or prefer a more… ghostly approach.”

“It may feel like just more Dishonored, but Arkane have improved everything they could’ve and made a truly satisfying sequel. We just hope it’s not the last.”
