How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 76% | 72 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 0 |

“Despite first releasing all the way back in July 2016, Raw Data stands above the many, many wave shooters that have succeeded it, with lavish production values, plentiful play options and the stylish blockbuster action that many of us envisioned when first putting on a VR headset. That said, the game never shatters the ominous glass ceiling of this restrictive genre; it’s an absolute masterclass in what makes wave-based combat tick, but just as much a case study for its limitations. Not quite the ultimate VR experience, then, but a pretty good starting point.”

“The recurring theme here is substance. On paper, creating a wave-based shooter doesn't sound all that inventive or ambitious, yet Raw Data is just that. In a bid to capitalise on the VR gold rush, we've seen plenty of smaller, lacklustre shooting galleries, but Survios effortlessly puts them all to shame.”

“Raw Data is a competent and well made VR FPS that suffers from a gameplay loop that drags on longer than it really should.”

“Raw Data that much more better. But you do get a lot here; Immersive VR…check. A story with heroes…check. Being able to move in 360 degrees with enemies coming at you…check and leaderboards…check. It’s all here and for that, you are truly getting an Intense VR Sci-Fi Combat game to add to your library that will be experienced for a long time.”

“Apart from some flaws, Raw Data neatly shows, how big potential is in PS Move controllers and virtual reality itself. It is just a greatly designed and satisfying shooter, which delivers tons of fun.”

“Raw Data is a great game to show off your PSVR with. This isn't an entry-level PSVR and I don't recommend jumping in and turning off all safety features for your first playthrough, however, once you are used to the controls and movement style which suits you, this game is so much fun and can be played in both short bursts and long stretches.”

“Raw Data is hands down the best shooting experience to come to VR in its life so far. I loved the gameplay in the single player element and can’t get enough of the multiplayer. The inclusion of classes brings a new aspect to the genre and adds replayability, and as long as the developers keep up with new content for the multiplayer and the communities sticks with it this will be the VR game that everyone talks about when bringing up the pros of the technology.”

“When you take a step back and look at what Raw Data is attempting to accomplish on the PSVR, it's remarkable what they were able to pull off. Better yet, it's one of the few VR experiences that I've played that feel like they've graduated from extended tech demo to a fully formed gaming experience. Unfortunately, while the ambition is certainly there, it feels like the hardware is once again preventing a standout title from achieving its potential greatness. Raw Data is an experience that is most definitely worth exploring, just don't expect your eyes to be overwhelmed with what they see. Suit up soldier. It's about time you cause an oil clean-up in aisle everywhere.”

“In spite of a lack of different enemies and occasionally unreliable motion controls, Raw Data nonetheless stands as one of the more intuitive and satisfying shooters available on PSVR.”

“Raw Data is like the final solid release of VR gaming's first wave, and the beginning of the second. It's gorgeous and features a large, expansive world, but it does still offer the same wave based shooter gameplay that has dominated the VR space. It does it much better than most of its competitors though, and the added touches of turrets, multiple weapons, and special abilities really bring it to a new level.”

“Raw Data is absolutely the game that every VR owner should play.”

“The team at Survios have done something few others have accomplished in the VR sphere - they’ve put out a whole game. It’s not a concept, it isn’t Early Access, and it’s not a half baked demo - Raw Data is a complete product featuring a single-player campaign, cooperative multiplayer, PVP, multiple classes, and more. While there are still a few bugs to iron out, Raw Data manages to elevate itself above the usual wave shooter fare.”
