How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 74 | 4 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 82% | 76 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 83 | 4 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 97% | 93 | 4 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Its a nice throwback for those who enjoy a more realistic and slower paced approach to shooters, but it strechtes its content too thin and loses the teamplay element that made Insurgency great.”

“Day of Infamy is an excellent multiplayer first person shooter that rewards teamwork and skill. It treads a fine line between realism and entertainment, and gamers looking for a worthwhile alternative to more mainstream shooters that isn’t as time consuming as the ArmA series will feel right at home in New World Interactive‘s latest release.”

“Day of Infamy is not a game that will tear down the hegemony of Battlefield or Call of Duty, but like other realistic shooter out there, it provides an alternative FPS experience.”

“Day of Infamy delivers an excellent product for a narrow field. It is an easy sell for fans of tactical shooters, and anyone interested in WWII era games. However, the game is not friendly towards casual gamers, and players who are unfamiliar with the genre will find Day of Infamy a frustrating and slow experience.”

“The inexorable focus on realism won't suit people looking for fast entertainment. But if you dive into Day of Infamy, it will be very difficult for you to get out of there. Except for a few issues, this is the second world war in full fame. [Issue#274] ”

“Day of Infamy has taken the shooter genre back to World War II and has really made it an immersive WWII FPS. Days of Infamy requires a combination of tactics, teamwork, map knowledge and skill to really win at this game. If you’re looking for a change from todays fast-paced genres of FPS, then look no further.”

“It feels good to bring out my gaming MacBook, my 9 years-old wireless gaming mouse and play the game downloaded straight from Steam. Day of Infamy is an Insurgency with World War II twist. Great shooter, where one shot is in most cases one kill. It keeps player on their toes, keep them engaged in CQC, but also makes them focus on the objective.”

“At £14.99 this game is a solid investment for time and money. Get ready to use your brain and your senses, or else be prepared to get killed on the regs by unseen enemies, that’s right, there was no ‘killcam’ in the 1940s…”
