How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Eden isn't as big as No Man's Sky's universe or even Far Cry 4's mountainous terrain, but it's got far more compelling reasons to stick around.”

“These are moments of impressive beauty and joy, moments blessedly unsullied by ReCore's technical lethargy.”

“Nonetheless, persist and you'll bear witness to a sound narrative pay-off, a rarity in the world of gaming these days. Recore's story isn't particularly original, but it's paced well enough to keep you playing, and in our case, power through its more glaring problems. As it stands, Recore is a flawed, albeit fun, game that could have benefitted by a longer development cycle. You could do worse, you could do better, and for now with Recore the overall experience is rather middling.”

“ReCore is a title that you must play if you have Xbox One or Windows 10. It is a fun and interesting experience and one that is different. A game to explore and admire a desert of ruins in which we do not know what happened. A very fast gameplay that hooks you and makes you want to improve to advance in the main plot. In short, a jewel in the Microsoft catalog that you should not miss.”

“ReCore was exactly what I wanted from a game like this. The action is fun and the exploration kept me interested. I just wish the pacing towards the end was better. While it mimicked the parts I love about classic adventure titles, it also copied the poor padding practices as well. Still, ReCore is a game that I would recommend to anyone that just enjoys playing games. It bypasses all the services and forced multiplayer we have come to expect, not to mention it is a heck of a lot of fun to play.”

“ReCore is a solid action-adventure platformer with fun, interesting ideas established at the forefront. However, those ideas wither over time because of the game's repetition and weak story.”

“ReCore is a competent shooter and platformer, but long load screens and brutally short play-through weigh it down.”

“ReCore is a nice game friends. Of course, it has its own ups and downs. Some platform puzzles are so annoying, the open world is sometimes very fainting and the grind system makes you mad, but I still cannot call ReCore a bad game. If you like the grind job, if you like ReCore's universe, I'm sure you'll do fun stuff for hours. The game is currently sold for 110 TL in the Windows Store. As I said, if you like grind and platform-style games, ReCore will give you hours of fun. But the firm has never been a Mighty No. If he had not dealt with 9 and turned directly to ReCore, a much better production would have been waiting for us.”

“Normally marketing will begin pushing hard right from day one on a title that is well received, and ReCore was. Instead the marketing and news about ReCore stayed relatively quiet up until it released, and even then it released to little fanfare which is a downright shame because ReCore could be so much more with a little push from the folks at Microsoft and/or Comcept. There are plenty of little moments, like the loving relationship between Joule and Mack, or the overall mission for the game, that really shine and could draw in a lot of gamers, if only it was talked about and highlighted. My biggest fear with ReCore is that if falls into obscurity because nobody seems to be talking about it.”

“ReCore had my full attention with great characters, a solid gripping story and then threw that away after a few hours.”

“There are other odd issues to be found where ReCore keeps tripping over itself despite earnest efforts to aid the player, like a targeting reticle that appears below Joule whenever she takes big jumps, except the camera always prevents you from truly seeing it, so you end up witnessing Joule fall into chemicals or into a pit of death. I could go on, but I'll stop. Perhaps one day, I'll have Joule raid an easy dungeon with Mack just to see how they move and interact. That way, I won't die and have more than enough time to think about how disappointed I was.”

“A throwback to a different age, Recore's enjoyable adventure is ultimately undone by a litany of problems.”
