How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 92% | 87 | 519 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 2 |

“On top of the fun and fast-paced gameplay already present in the original game, the port here is very well-done, including a variety of options to really make the game shine on PC.”

“Nice graphics, a tuneful soundtrack, and an interesting supporting cast, each with their own compelling stories, round out the package that should be a no-brainer for those who haven’t yet played it.”

“For newcomers to the series, or those who just missed out on the Vita version, this new port is a fine way to enjoy Ys: Memories of Celceta, but for those who’ve played it before there’s not enough new content to justify a second purchase.”

“In spite of an ending that leaves much to be desired, Ys: Memories of Celceta is a great action-RPG that re-contextualizes a decades-old franchise for a modern audience.”

“Despite being a remaster of a VITA game, Ys: Memories of Celceta is another excellent addition to the Ys series that is now accessible to a larger fanbase where it may perhaps get the recognition it deserves.”

“Time hasn’t been kind to some aspects of Ys: Memories of Celceta but a great combat system, now free of technical issues, combined with an amazing soundtrack brings this action RPG together into a great package once again all these years later.”

“Ys: Memories of Celceta features a thrilling combat system and wonderful score that will please anyone in search of a classic-style JRPG. Although its party AI is wonky at times, this Ys IV remake is a must-buy title for role-playing game fans.”

“That said, Ys: Memories of Celceta is both a wonderful action adventure RPG just as much as it is a solid entry into the Ys Series. Having made its way to the PS4, there are now three options to experience this adventure and fans that want to get back into it from the original Vita version will be happy to know that they share a trophy list. With plenty of ground to cover, plenty of monsters to fight and puzzles to solve, this re-release of one of Adol’s earlier adventures may be exactly what you need to tide you over as we wait for the localization of Ys IX: Nox Monstrum.”

“Memories of Celceta is like a bite-size RPG for kids or for the millennial with time constraints who still wants to play RPGs, but can’t commit to 100-hour behemoths like Persona 5. It’s fun and doesn’t outstay its welcome. Combat is fast, but it also suffers from being simple and heavy on the button-mashing. The story takes you for a ride, but it’s also pedestrian and does nothing new, it’s like deja vu, in that it feels like an RPG story you’ve heard time and again.”

“Despite its age showing a bit and some lacking story elements, Ys Memories of Celceta is a very enjoyable game that set the tone for the series moving forward.”

“Ys: Memories Of Celceta is a diffetent type of Action/RPG, most of the times we expect great stories and mostly good gameplay from these sort of games but here, it is the other way around and a serviceable cliche story is combined with a great gameplay and it actually works!”

“A perfectly serviceable if underwhelming remaster that brings the Vita game to the PS4. A fine RPG that will keep you entertained but it's definitely not the best the Ys series has to offer. A bit of a missed opportunity.”
