How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“While I'll eventually grow bored with this title, it hasn't happened yet, even with 50-plus hours combined between my wife and I playing. I still have perks to unlock and properties to fix and sell. House Flipper is much better than expected and will keep you busy for a long while, even longer once the game is updated.”

“House Flipper offers hours of fun combined with rest and relaxation, which I think is the perfect combination. Players can tap into their creativity and imagination here, which isn’t all that common in simulators. The game really gives you free rein, and in my opinion, that’s why it’s been so popular for several years now. The feeling of monotony after a few hours or even dozens of hours of play is just a minor flaw. Still, after a while, you’ll find your way back to renovating.”

“Oh, simulator games, how you can sometimes baffle me for you appeal, allowing people to do some theoretically cool things but then often getting bogged down in drudgery and minutia...”

“Cleaning up a large house, painting the walls, and fixing the plumping is dull work for most people. For some bizarre reason, in House Flipper all that is fun. Being a sim title it's not for everyone of course, but those who enjoy the idea of buying, renovating, and reselling houses will actually get addicted with playing this, especially since its title that's incredibly easy to pick up and play. Sadly, it suffers a lot in terms of replay value. By the time you hit 10 hours or so, you've practically done everything twice, and all that's left is to simply experiment with new colours of paint, or different sets of furniture.”

“Overall House Flipper is a great game to kill time with, and also the perfect game if you find that you need to be able to shut your brain off and just do something for a little while. It’s not perfect and it is definitely not for everybody, especially if you’re actually in the market for something more exciting, but those who enjoy sitting down to slam out a mundane task should strongly consider this game on Switch. While some of the decisions they made in terms of controls were a bit strange to me, I eventually got used to them and found myself enjoying the process just as much as I did on PC. So get in there and paint those rooms the ugliest colors you can find, and put down a chair for good measure, House Flipper is the place to be if you’re just looking to relax.”

“House Flipper’s Farm DLC is a unique and more quality-of-life addition to an otherwise engaging game that can keep you busy for hours. While there are some obvious bugs, they don’t detract from the overall gameplay but they can still be annoying for those just starting. You can still unleash your inner creative demon and find your style in this home design simulator game.”

“For people who love simulation games and space design, House Flipper might be an interesting experience. the goal of the game is to create an opportunity for players to use their imagination to design space and make changes inside it. although game's performance in some parts is wonky and can't meet all the expectations of the players, it's still an acceptable game as a distinct and new title.”

“House Flipper is one of those titles that you just don't expect to be as good as it is. Seriously, play this videogame.”

“I wanted to love House Flipper. I’m a huge fan of the building and design aspects of The Sims 4 and was looking forward to playing a game dedicated to such, but the limited options tampered my enthusiasm considerably. While the control scheme does feel bizarre, even after a good 2-3 days of play I was still trying to use A and B instead of ZR and ZL, it does work, and it doesn’t feel too cumbersome despite my fingers not being used to trigger work. The task list bug did wind me up, but was thankfully a relatively easy fix so I’m not too upset. I wanted to love it, but in its current state, I can only say I like it. It was fun, and I’ll be redesigning my early houses for ages to come, but for the price tag, I’d expected more options and variation for replayability, even having the DLCs included would have significantly elevated the game. If you’re a more careful decorator though, you could probably sink a lot of time into House Flipper and feel like you got a bargain.”

“House Flipper isn’t ready to be placed on the market. For a game that is all about customizing a property, you have far too few options to chose from and there’s a complete lack of cohesion between furniture and colors. House Flipper is appealing enough to tempt in buyers for an open viewing, but a closer inspection reveals the obvious shortcomings. As a buyer, you should either negotiate hard for a discount on the selling price or wait until the quality of the game meets the buyer’s asking price.”

“If it’s any consolation for the House Flipper devs, the Switch version of this game made me want to take a look at the PC version instead. It’s still buggy and unpolished, but I can actually play it without getting mad at the glitchy controls.”

“House Flipper is as therapeutically enjoyable to play on the Nintendo Switch as it was on PC, with the console port proving a solid one. Sure, the controls can feel a little awkward in places and there has been an obvious drop in graphical quality, but it still manages to nail the most important aspect of the game: the joy of flipping-houses. There’s no denying that it won’t be for everyone, but those who like the idea of buying houses, doing them up, selling them for a profit and then repeating the process will have HOURS of fun with House Flipper.”
