How this trust score was computed

Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless VaultAug 31, 2026 · Jordan Rudek

The pixelated look of Moonlighter has been replaced with an art style more befitting the sequel's shift to 3D, which well suits its variety of environments and its blend of fantasy, real life, and sci-fi themes. Enjoyers of the first Moonlighter may bristle against the changes implemented for Moonlighter 2, but what's new here has made a fan out of me. Simply put, I'm over the moon.

River City Saga: Journey to the WestAug 21, 2026 · Joel DeWitte

Someone might crack the code on this mash-up, but River City Saga isn't the one to show how it's done. If you enjoy any brawler you can put your hands on and have a fondness for this style of storytelling, it may be worth a look. Otherwise, this time investment is too much in an ocean of better games.

    DuskfadeAug 13, 2026 · John Rairdin

That being said, there is certainly room for a little extra optimization in places. Still, it makes very smart use of the hardware to know where best to make compromises. Great visuals, a fun world, inspiring soundtrack, and solid mechanics make this one an easy recommendation.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion RemasteredAug 11, 2026 · John Rairdin

Oblivion is a weird janky game, and this remaster merely makes it a prettier janky game. If you have nostalgia from playing Oblivion back in 2006, I think you'll love revisiting it in this form. If you're a Nintendo fan coming from Skyrim, be prepared for an ambitious but demanding adventure that is a little rough around the edges.

    MontabiAug 6, 2026 · Willem Hilhorst

The story, music and characters aren't anything to write home about. Yet in the end I still had a pretty great time with Montabi. Its gameplay loop feels like the right fit for a Roguelike game. While I still stand by the fact that I'm over these types of games, Montabi deserves its spot among some of the best this genre has to offer.

BLUE REFLECTION QuartetAug 3, 2026 · Allyson Cygan

However, the shame here is with Ray and Sun being included in the states they are in. I get wanting to include these, so that this is a more complete collection, but it soured my experience with this collection. Ultimately I'm glad I got to experience the two console games but wish that the other two pieces to this Quartet were given more attention.

    Heave Ho 2Jul 28, 2026 · Joel DeWitte

Heave Ho 2 provided new and entertaining premises for us to play with the mechanics, sabotage each other, and broke us into laughter so hard we could barely breathe. Heave Ho 2 takes the perfect formula from the first game, and adds onto it. Sometimes you don't need to mess with perfection.

    GureiJul 21, 2026 · Jordan Rudek

One annoying issue with the game is the high number of crashes, which forced me back to the Switch home menu on nearly every run; the game's autosave meant I never lost any progress, but I was constantly worrying that I would experience a crash during one of the boss fights, rather than before or after–which added unnecessary tension beyond what the game was already offering. I'm a major fan of how the bosses scale up as you take down their compatriots, leading to tough but meaningful choices as you plan out the route of each run. Those who enjoy the difficulty of titles like Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, and Nine Sols will relish how much Gurei pushes you, but it will need a patch to address the crashes before I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The Mermaid MaskJul 17, 2026 · Willem Hilhorst

It is so hard to weave a compelling mystery adventure but SFB Games have simply struck gold with this fourth Detective Grimoire adventure. The passion for their work oozes from the game and I think it is impossible to not love all of these characters. Frankly I cannot wait to see them return to the world of Detective Grimoire. But until then, The Mermaid Mask is a must for anyone looking to dive into the weekend with an engrossing mystery experience.

    Culdcept BEGINSJul 16, 2026 · Neal Ronaghan

It's a surprisingly user-friendly version of a complex game that does a great job of teaching you the basics and occasionally kicking you in the face with its random-number reliance. The single-player content is a great tutorial with a little extra, but the breadth of this game is in the customizable card decks and the potential long legs of multiplayer, be it locally or online. This is likely the most approachable Culdcept has been in English-speaking countries ever, and thankfully it's an enjoyable, somewhat-streamlined version of it.

    Denshattack!Jul 15, 2026 · Neal Ronaghan

It's oozing with style and succeeds in driving home the lunacy of a kickflipping train home with a well thought-out arsenal of tricks and enough variety to make this on-rails sonata a pleasing tune of a video game. In some ways, this might be my favorite 3D Sonic game. In other ways, it's a sequel to Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. The comparisons can carry on, but Denshattack endures beyond it because it doesn't neatly fit a specific comparison or stereotype. Denshattack is Denshattack.

Digimon Story Time StrangerJul 14, 2026 · Jordan Rudek

undefined.Digimon Story Time Stranger is a fine turn-based RPG with creature collecting and some rough story and progression edges. A notable feather in its cap is how smooth it runs and how nice it looks on Switch 2, not to mention miniscule load times both portably and on TV. I'm glad to have finally checked out a modern Digimon game, even if my expectations weren't fully met, and I'm curious what form the next one ends up taking. Maybe start with clear bad guys that aren't just evil Digimon.

    D-topiaJul 14, 2026 · Jordan Loades

D-Topia paints a compelling picture of an increasingly plausible future for humanity. In an era where AI is being aggressively forced upon us by tech companies looking to make a quick buck, this game serves as a brilliant reminder that algorithms alone cannot solve nuanced human problems. It is a deceptively serene adventure that proves true utopia still requires a human heart.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic Jul 14, 2026 · John Rairdin

The original game cuts off somewhat unceremoniously so being able to immediately swap over to Book II greatly improves that element of the presentation. The move to non-VR displays clearly hasn't been the easiest for a game so inherently built for VR. And even with that in mind, there are some clear areas where this misses the mark. Still, if you can get past the awkward moments, the Switch 2 makes a great window through which you The Reader can go along with this little mouse on her tiny adventure.

    Moonlight PeaksJul 6, 2026

Moonlight Peaks is a life sim with a unique backdrop and a keen awareness of what makes these types of games appealing. The gothic vibes add freshness to a genre filled with replicas, and the transformations and spells, while not perfect, make for a pleasant complement. There's plenty to do on your monstrous homestead and a charming collection of neighbors into whose lives you can insert yourself, however much you choose. It's worth noting that stamina and mana meters can feel a bit restrictive, especially early on, and the purple tinged nights of the spring and summer seasons can grow tiresome. All in all, though, Moonlight Peaks is a delightful cozy experience that is built for fans of the genre and welcoming enough to newcomers as well.
