How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“If you’re a gamer who prefers to play their games solo this may not be the Naruto game for you, honestly you will likely find it more enjoyable to play one of the great Ultimate Ninja Storm games. Shinobi Striker has a heavy emphasis on multiplayer with it’s lack of story mode and the multiplayer game modes making up the main focus of the game’s replayability and loot grinding addictiveness. That said, fans of the Naruto series will have an enjoyable time with this game and will likely get stuck in the addicting loot grind just like I did.”

“Much like how Boruto has failed to live up to its progenitor, Boruto to Naruto: Shinobi Striker cannot live up to the Ultimate Ninja Storm games. Like most of its type, it gives a huge advantage to those who can play with friends, a guild, or a clan, but even with this, the broken matchmaking leads to crushing defeats on a regular basis. This, combined with the constant delays thanks to unskippable results screens and huge load times, really puts a dampener on the whole experience. It's a shame because there are a lot of good elements here, plus a crazy and addictive combat system. It, sadly, just all feels rather unfinished.”

“From my time with the banal tutorials to spending hours in online matches, I would say that at this state, it’s disappointing that this Naruto game under-delivers on its fun factors, as well as any content that could prolong its longevity.”

“Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker introduces players to the world of Shinobie's where you can learn different Ninjutsus. The game has a fun and engaging gameplay mechanics, but also has problems regarding online mode and it's world becomes boring too early.”

“A fast and frenetic adventure, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is greater than the sum of its parts. Despite some voice work that feels rather flat and a handful of other minor issues, the game feels genuine in its attempt to recreate the action of Naruto, and forging your own custom character's legacy is bound to be enough to entice fans.”

“My time with Shinobi Striker was a boring, frustrating grind that I really don't think is worth your time. Even for the hardcore Naruto fans, I would say at least wait for a major price drop.”

“Overall, I just felt like there weren’t enough features in the game to keep me interested. It’s very straightforward to the point of being narrow-minded. You customize your character, you battle it out, and rinse-and-repeat. I don’t think Shinobi Striker’s battle system is enough to keep me interested with repetitive play.”

“There are some novel ideas present in Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Unfortunately, these ideas are either clumsily executed or too surrounded by unpolished design issues to truly shine.”

“This might be the first Naruto game in a long time that does something new, blending anime with class-based online battles. The idea may seem a little strange but it works well, and it would be great to see Bandai Namco build off this with other anime franchises in future. Shinobi Striker is well worth your time if you like the Naruto series and even worth trying out if you just want a new multiplayer experience to get lost in.”

“Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikers is fun weekend play for franchise and MOBA fighting fans.”

“It exactly captures the essence of the Naruto from the original anime series. The Speed and personality of the protagonist is displayed with clarity and even though it is largely focused on the multi-player game feature, there are many single player missions to help you accumulate some XP and skills.”

“Naruto fans will probably appreciate the fact that they'll find themselves in their favorite universe again. Otherwise, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is simply a bit underwhelming. Although it's certainly not bad, it had much more potential.”
