How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 2 |

“Magnificent many years after its original release, Rez Infinite finally feels at home on PlayStation VR, and virtual reality has got its first killer app. A sensational sensory overload, this sublime shooter may be short-lived, but you'll be hard pushed to find an experience more deserving of your attention this year.”

“Rez has more than earned its classic game status and the updated Rez Infinite manages to be a fantastic experience whether you played the original game or not. There are so many elements that just blend together and create a fantastic, fluid experience that is only enhanced through the use of Virtual Reality.”

“The highest shelf in its species. Good old Rez ingeniously uses PlayStation VR goggles, but without nostalgia for the original there is nothing to throw. The price/length ratio of the fun is not the best.”

“VR finds its killer app in a 15-year-old Dreamcast game.”

“Despite it's short campaign--you can complete everything in a little more than an hour, if you're skilled--Rez Infinite is the game to buy a PSVR for. It's hypnotic and enveloping. And it's transformative, both within itself and in the wider scheme of the experiences made possible by VR. You don't want to sleep on Rez Infinite, because with the addition of more polished visual flair and the dreamy Area X, we have a new classic for the new generation on our hands.”

“Rez Infinite is intoxicating and exhilarating in equal measure. Despite fundamentally being a fifteen year old game, its arrival on PlayStation VR seems to have finally completed the visionary work of Tetsuya Mizuguchi and puts you wholly within this overwhelming piece of sensory software.”

“A timeless classic that works exceptionally well in VR, as it melds together gameplay, graphics, and sound in a way no other game has ever matched.”

“To believe that Rez Infinite had been thought for virtual reality. Already very addictive when you play it in a classic way on a TV, where it appears slightly boosted compared to the 360 version, the game of Tetsuya Mizuguchi is transcended when using the PlayStation VR. This electro trip becomes all the more accessible and natural and tickles our senses as it should to create a slight addiction to the sensations provided, very pure and downright sublime in Zone X mode.”

“Like having a drunken conversation with a friend who really loves music, but it's a videogame and good.”

“The music, the world and the gameplay combine to make for a truly enthralling experience. Area X is one of my highlights of the year and I can’t wait to see it fleshed out in a full Rez sequel. For now though, Rez Infinite is PlayStation VR’s first must-have title.”

“With or without PlayStation VR, Rez Infinite is a great game that can be loved by fans of shooters on rails or by anyone willing to have a different experience that responds to a series of sensory stimuli that make you not only enjoy the game , but also feel it. Rez Infinite is still as mesmerizing and enjoyable as it has been in the versions we've seen in the past, but it takes advantage of current-gen hardware to present itself with the best audio and visuals it has been able to achieve.”

“Like its PlayStation 4 counterpart, Rez Infinite is essential for PC owners who remember the title fondly. It's also essential for those who own a VR headset, regardless of whether or not they've played it before or even have an interest in shooters.”
