How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“On Steam, Hell Let Loose costs €29.99. Although the actual content is about a third of what the developers promised, the price is adequate for the current form. It's worth remembering that the game is still in Early Access and therefore subject to further expansion. To the initial question "What is it like to be an expendable soldier in World War II?" while this title won't answer it yet, if Post Scriptum is too much of a strategy game and Battlefield is too much of an arcade game for you, this is a happy medium.”

“Hell Let Loose could've been a great game, but because its maps are too big and its community is too upsetting, anyone looking to experience the hell of World War 2 should look elsewhere.”

“Ultimately, Hell Let Loose is a hardcore shooter in every sense of the word. Though it’s very easy to get discouraged at the beginning, those committed to seeing it through will likely have a great time. Though the niche focus won’t appeal universally, providing you know what you’re getting in for, anyone after a tougher World War II shooter would do well to take a look.”

“Hell Let Loose might just be of the most immersive and anxiety-inducing WWII shooters out there, with an insanely high learning curve.”

“Hell Let Loose is an excellent World War 2 simulator but if you do not play on a large organized group, the game trips over itself, as players are permanently lost on the map, away from each other.”

“Hell Let Loose is a good game and will appeal to people who love battles on a huge scale. Unfortunately, but only to them, because others will soon bounce back from the title.”

“Realistic multiplayer war action with hardcore gameplay and very important teamplay. Not capable for lone wolf or weak soldiers.”

“Hell Let Loose provides a very hardcore multiplayer experience that you really need to be a team player to have a chance at victory. The more time you invest in this title, the more you are provided with different ways to enjoy the ride.”

“Hell Let Loose could become a real hit amongst those looking for a bit more of a grounded experience than Call of Duty or Battlefield. However, the experience will rely heavily on the community engaging with each other positively to put plans together and make the experience authentic. Hell Let Loose is a game about teamwork and without it the chaos of war will overwhelm a player.”

“Hell Let Loose can be a nightmarishly opaque experience for beginners, but behind that rough intro is a deep and well-crafted military simulation game.”

“Hell Let Loose is a different type of shooter from what most players will expect but one that is rewarding so long as you have proper teamwork. When you are on a team that is properly communicating and coordinating the feeling you get from this game is awesome. On the other hand, when you aren’t on one of those teams it can make it very easy to want to jump ship into one of the many other shooters available.”

“ADD another playing condition for this game: COMMUNICATION. It's not essential to win (like most PVP games), but it makes the game 10 times more fun. HELL LET LOOSE puts you in the middle of WW2, headphone & mic make this experience even more immersive. It's not a 5v5 where a higher skilled player can carry the entire team, Rambo in this game will die. To live and win this 50v50 battle, follow orders and respect the line.”
