How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 85 | 16 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 95% | 90 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 90 | 32 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 93% | 87 | 3000 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Indie rogue-lite shooter Roboquest is a real surprise for me in all respects, as I didn't expect this title to make such a pleasant impression on me. So if you are an avid fan of fast-paced shooters and you can get over the fact that you have to finish the game in one go, we can definitely recommend Roboquest on behalf of our editorial team. However, if you are not a patient person and want to relax with the game, you should consider the purchase carefully.”

“If you like first-person shooters, you will have an absolute blast with Roboquest. The game scratches the itch for a satisfying and active shooter in a way that few other titles manage, and you can expect to spend hours just ducking back in for another round of shooting and jumping in the hopes of reaching the end this time. I can’t recommend this one highly enough.”

“Roboquest shows exceptional craftsmanship among high-speed shooter and roguelite genre games. While Easily enjoyable for anyone, the game is providing additional fun by adding depth to repetitive gameplay with various systems. However, the lack of unique and inventive fun exclusive to this game is somewhat disappointing.”

“Roboquest is a fantastic shooter that’s chock-full of secrets and seemingly endless enjoyment. It can be a bit harder to play at a frantic pace on a console, but it doesn’t take long to get fairly accustomed to it. All-in-all, this is a must-play roguelite that nails essentially everything it does, with style.”

“Roboquest is a fun roguelite FPS that motivates to pick it up for "just one more round". Tight controls, intense gameplay, secrets and lots of different guns, perks and six classes more than make up for the a little bit lacking enemy and level design.”

“Roboquest from developer RyseUp Studios is a simple, fun, and fast-paced shooter that presses you as much as it rewards you. While not everything in it is gold, there is enough packed into this to make it a fun experience.”

“The music in Roboquest is fantastic with the synthwave Carpenter Brut-inspired soundtrack amping me up as I ran and gunned my way through each biome. Although the gameplay can get somewhat repetitive after a while, there is still so much variety to discover. If you’re looking into dipping your toe into the Souls/rogue-like pool, I would strongly recommend giving Roboquest a look.”

“From blistering fast and satisfying FPS action through to a thoughtfully layered series Roguelite mechanics that always manage to entice you to have another go, everything works in harmony to create one of the best FPS Roguelites money can buy. Roboquest gets so much absolutely right that this is really just about everything you could want from a Roguelite FPS and one of the easiest recommendations of the year.”

“Roboquest is a ton of fun, though it never feels great on a controller. It does feel good enough to recommend on Xbox, though. The devs get what it takes to make a solid run-based title, utilizing their years in early-access to craft another title worth checking out on Game Pass.”

“Roboquest VR stands out as one of the most energetic, relentlessly fun shooters available on PSVR2. The moment I jumped onto a rail in the opening area, I understood exactly what this version was aiming for and it succeeds almost entirely. The movement, the flow, the combat variety, the secrets tucked into levels, and the overall momentum of the roguelite loop all click wonderfully in VR. Even with a few quirks in the controls and the absence of co-op, it's an easy game to recommend and one I expect to keep revisiting just to chase that perfect run. If you love high-speed VR shooters, inventive weaponry, and games that reward skillful improvisation, Roboquest VR absolutely earns its place among PSVR2's best offerings. Roboquest VR is thrilling, polished, and packed with style, with just enough room for future updates to push it even higher.”
