How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Its chaotic simplicity is what makes it so fun, and so easy to go back to every day.

I can feel the love the devs poured into this game. The crazy mechanics and fun art keep the game interesting for a long time even though it's simple. I had a ton of fun playing it.

The game may seem a little hard at the beginning but after some exercise you can find it entertaining and highly playable. It is totally expected that you repeat and repeat to achieve higher scores, a process that is really enjoyable. I must admit that this game is better than what I have expected before playing it and is a step forward for its creators.

It's tough to define what genre this game really belongs to, but let's say that what we have here is a level-based score chaser. You need to scare away the unsuspecting people in the subway and take their food. To do that, you need to get behind them and bark (well, that's what dogs do anyway, right?). Eating their food will increase your score counter and, at the same time, it will keep your dog's stomach full. Once you have enough points, you can move on to the next level. Of course, the premise is quite straightforward but, I can guarantee, the actual gameplay is much more frantic in practice. You need to think quickly and you need to have fast reflexes. The starter levels are not very difficult but, as you progress, the later sections of the game will be a lot more unforgiving. Sometimes, to get really high scores, you will need to perform some very complex combos and this requires serious effort from your side as well.

This game is fun, damn challenging fun. Though it seems simple and goofy, it's a fun action game with some meat on its bones. I would recommend picking up this tasty morsel.

Fun arcade-style experience in which dogs scavenge for food in Russian subway stations

Russian Subway Dogs is an incredibly unique arcade-style title that excels in short bursts. With a wonderfully zany presentation and great mission diversity, there is little else like this game. Its score-chasing, shawarma-munching action is diluted somewhat by its stunted game flow and superfluous unlockables, but neither flaw results in Russian Subway Dogs being anything short of good.
