How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 69 | 37 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 87% | 81 | 483 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 88% | 82 | 6 |

“REVEIL is a title worth giving a chance and not giving up after the first hour full of cheap horror shtick. Persistent players will not regret it, discovering a really interesting story in a beautiful visual setting.”

“To me, Reveil is a surprising horror simulator with high-quality visuals and music. For my taste, though, the game is short and could use a slightly longer storyline. The ending is definitely shocking and unexpected. I’d compare this title to a mix of Layers of Fear and an escape room game. It’s definitely worth checking out, especially for any fan of horror games, that is, if you don’t mind simulators.”

“REVEIL is a fantastic horror game that doesn’t fall short in terms of thrills or stories. It’s a great first-person horror game for those who have enjoyed games like Silent Hills and Amnesia, especially with its great graphics and sound engineering.”

“Reveil is entirely derivative of other works in the genre with nothing new to add, and if you think that might be enough for you, it's unfortunately not a very good version of all that either.”

“Although Reveil relies primarily on story and atmosphere, which it does well, it also offers a good puzzle-solving and level-exploring experience. It's just a shame that the monsters are not very interesting.”

“Reveil won't be the horror game of the year, but it can offer a few hours of decent entertainment.”

“Overall, it was fun to playthrough Reveil. The playthrough we did took about three hours to get through but after seeing what you need to do can probably be done in about two hours. For $19.99, the game is worth checking out; if the game goes on sale then it would definitely be a great horror game to pick up for spooky season.”

“REVEIL offers a mix of the familiar and the creative, making it a noteworthy addition to the ever-expanding realm of horror gaming. While it could use some improvement in a few places, overall you won’t regret buying an entry ticket to this carnival of horror.”

“Reveil isn't going to set the world of P.T.-inspired first-person horror games on fire, and issues with its writing and voice acting often drag it down, but with a strong aesthetic, surreal environments, and straightforward yet engaging puzzles and mechanics, it's still a solid experience that fans of the genre will enjoy.”

“REVEIL by Pixelsplit is a daring, surreal experience that impresses with its bold twists, but may leave some questioning its replay value once the mystery is unraveled.”

“REVEIL is a well-made psychological horror, which generates anxiety by exploiting phobias and more, creating the right level of tension in the player who doesn't know what to expect while always remaining alert.”
