How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 88.7, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 2,745 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

What a pleasant surprise Vertigo 2 has turned out to be. Waking up in a cell, held captive by the omnipotent, and possibly sinister, Brian, you are eventually let loose to explore a massive scientific facility housing a quantum reactor. The similarities to Half-Life are striking and immediate, but dev Zulubo hasn’t shied away from this, and the results are spectacular.

Those who own the PS VR2 want to have the opportunity to play a good first person shooter, they will have a really good time with Vertigo 2 and even more so than they originally did.

Vertigo 2 is a beautifully quirky and genuinely fun action-adventure game that you'll enjoy on your first playthrough, and can return to again and again for slightly different experiences. It's a shame, of course, that there are a few minor niggles, and that the game might run out of steam towards the end.

Once you temper your expectations, it looks more like a last-generation title than the hard realism of Half-Life: Alyx, Vertigo 2 packs enough thrills to justify its mid-range price tag.

Vertigo 2 is a decent and lengthy VR shooter, but it comes up short when compared to other PSVR 2 games. It's a big game by a solo developer, filled with varied environments, weapons and enemies, but it's just not as refined as the best VR games. Still, it's well worth a look if you fancy a bit of a VR shooter romp.

Vertigo 2 easily stands out as one of the most impressive releases on PlayStation VR 2, with its action-packed adventure offering a wonderful world to explore, zany storytelling, and thrilling shootouts. I’ll admit, I didn’t even know the game existed before playing, but it didn’t take long to hook me in with its intuitive design and exciting gameplay mechanics. It’s really, REALLY good. I mentioned that PlayStation VR 2 didn’t have many must-play games at the start of this review, but believe me, Vertigo 2 is one title you won’t want to miss.

Vertigo 2 is an entertaining, colorful and over-the-top trip through a half-life-esque world. A wide variety of enemies, ambiguous dialog and cracking boss fights make it a must-have for VR fans.

A sci-fi shooter with a strong reputation, Vertigo 2 doesn’t move the needle strongly one way or the other. It’s a lengthy outing by VR standards, so there is some bang for your buck, but it simply doesn’t do enough to standout on PS VR2.

The PSVR2 version of Vertigo 2 almost stumbled at the finish line, but a timely delay allowed Zulubo Productions to deliver a fun and multifaceted first-person adventure. It's a long and rewarding title with an enviable pace and structure. While the code still has some issues, the overall experience is interesting and satisfying. A must-try for PSVR2 owners.

Vertigo 2 is packed with great ideas. Being built specifically for VR, there is a nice layer of tactility with the inventory and reload systems. There are plenty of wonderful set pieces that make a bunch of memorable moments throughout the well-paced campaign. Although the visuals are dated and bugs will crop up from time to time, it’s still a wonderful, ambitious game.

Vertigo 2 is undoubtedly one of the standout games for PlayStation VR 2 and a must-play for shooter fans. It's safe to say that until Half-Life: Alyx arrives on PlayStation 5, this is the next best option for a story-driven shooter.
