Review sentiment over time

Weekly positive-review rate (green) and review volume (bars). Dashed lines mark significant patches; the amber line is the start of the current scoring window. Hover the dots to see what drove a dip or a jump.

How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 92.0, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 16,113 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

Goat Simulator 3 is a truly remarkable experience, and you have to admit that the developers have a great imagination because creating something like this must have been an experience too. Despite how crazy it is, it's not that bad, as doing all sorts of crazy things is fun, and the heaps of innuendo make it a funny game sometimes.

Silly in a good way, Goat Simulator 3 is an excellent no-frills game for pleasant escapism.

Goat Simulator 3 is a solid sandbox game that you can enjoy with friends, but if you decide to play alone, the limited options can quickly get boring. Even the lack of object physics, which might be fun for a while, can start to get on your nerves after a while. On the other hand, Goat Simulator 3 offers plenty of fun through secret locations and objects to explore, drawing from both the world of film and gaming.

Goat Simulator 3 is dumb, dotty, and through some fluke of gaming-related evolution, incredibly enjoyable.

In a sea filled with serious triple-A or so experiences featuring ex-Greek gods and rats, I'd recommend Goat Simulator 3 if you need a goofy laugh playing as a goat in an open-world setting filled with secrets, goofy quests, and easter eggs.

At any rate, the game is an ironic, satiric, comical masterpiece, and it’s apparent that the developers have invested a lot of time and resources into this project to have it function seriously from a technical standpoint.

For what it is, Goat Simulator 3 excels. It's a bigger, crazier sequel to the viral hit, built expressly to satiate anyone's appetite for chaos. It's the epitome of dumb fun; if you want to switch your brain off and just mess around for an hour or so, this is about as lowbrow as it gets, and we mean that as a compliment. There are some serious performance hiccups, and it's certainly not to everyone's tastes. Even if you love it, the novelty will eventually run dry, but if you're able to go along for the ride and lean into its madness, you'll have lots of fun while it lasts.

Goat Simulator 3 fits perfectly into an era of great seriousness and the use of teasing as a sign of humor, it just doesn't have that feeling of the first great "goat romance".

Goat Simulator 3 is exactly what you expect from a game dedicated to celebrating parodies, exploring the weirdness of game physics, and running around the world as a “chaotic good” or “chaotic evil” goat. It can be a lot of fun! Sometimes, it can break! I still see pop-in issues after the day one patch and find myself getting stuck. Still, even when it isn’t perfect, it’s a good time. It manages to be irreverent, but simultaneously irrelevant and relevant.

Goat Simulator 3 nails the ridiculousness in a bigger, more intuitive way. The humour hits in every corner of the huge open world you’ll be exploring, culminating in hours of fun. The controls not feeling as modern as its peers, alongside small performance issues dampen the overall package, but if you’re looking for something truly off the wall and friendly for all ages, this game is one to check out.

All in all, Goat Simulator 3 is a wonderfully wacky experience that is sure to delight, whether you're playing on your own or with friends. Its gameplay mechanics may get a bit old if you're playing solo or looking for a layered gameplay story, but if you're keen for a ridiculous and hilarious casual game to dip in and out of occasionally, Goat Simulator 3 will be an excellent fit for your library.

The crazy goat simulation, which was more of an April Fool's joke, caught on very well and the second part, or the third, is already here. It offers unfettered fun, but also bugs.
