How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

If I had to sum up Just Die Already in a nutshell, I’d say that despite its flaws, the game will definitely entertain you. I highly recommend it for a group of four friends who want to play a casual game just for fun and aren’t looking to take anything too seriously. Just Die Already’s open world is interesting and won’t bore you to death. Price-wise, the game is affordable, and in my opinion, the purchase price matches the gaming experience. However, you won’t be able to avoid the shortcomings in the form of bugs and crashes.

Just Die Already sounds amazing on paper; old people foregoing common sense and wanting to end their lives in the most over the top way imaginable. The overall look of the game is hilarious and there is some fun to be found in short bursts. It’s just a shame that the controls, as deliberately janky as they appeared to be, are so unforgiving to the point that they spoil the experience and sapped all of the energy from the game.

Just Die Already is a game principally about killing people, but which fails to make the killing fun or satisfying in any way, and as a result presents about as much utility as a power drill made out of wet cardboard.

Whether you call them weirdo physics games, chaos sandboxes, or just a crazy time, games in the vein of the somewhat infamous Goat Simulator and its ilk are kind of hard to put a finger on...

I threw a grenade filled with bees at a bunch of martial artists. The bees killed two of them. You have to be wary of bees, as they are clearly quite deadly.

Just Die Already is an enjoyably mean-spirited game that would cross the line into hateful if it wasn’t so gleeful in its disrespect for elders. Less Octodad, more octogenarian, a surplus of the usual physics sandbox glitches don’t detract from fun that's as densely packed as the very coffins you're dodging.

Replacing goats with pensioners and expanding the possibilities with better controls, more weapons and a literal bucket list of things to do makes this a sandbox worth exploring. Great price too!

While Just Die Already features a great concept, funny gameplay, and an excellent art style. Its lack of objectives and narrative really hold it back from being anything but a few minute novelty.

Just Die Already has a few decent things going for it such as the freedom and nice artstyle, it ultimately falters due to controls that often feel sluggish, an uninteresting soundscape, and a sense of humor that never really lands.

Just Die Already’s premise of playing as an old person and causing all kinds of trouble in an open world is fun at first but just like your character it gets old.

Just Die Already is a game that offers you the odd few hours of reprieve from other, more serious experiences, handing you the reins and coaxing you into experimenting with every ridiculous idea that pops into your head. It's fantastic fun in short bursts, silly, but structured well enough to offer you a challenge if that's what you're looking for. I'd recommend grabbing a couple of buddies and seeing what chaotic exploits you can get up to. It's certainly worth the time, especially at the game's price point, even if it's not the kind of thing that you can sit down to play for hours at a time.

Just Die Already takes the outrageous nature of Goat Simulator and brings it to a completely new concepts and premise. But, while the experience is fun and a laugh, it is fairly shallow and physics don't hold up to other games in the genre. A funny time, but definitely nothing to go running to tell your grandparents about.
