How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“WipEout is back in all its glory on the PS4. The classic E racer is amped for 4K and consistent 60FPS. With three games remastered on a single disk, it’s a must-buy for old-school players and newcomers alike who enjoy fast arcade racing games of old. ”

“WipEout Omega Collection is an impressive remaster that shines at high speeds, though elements of this compilation are starting to show their age. Despite being boosted all the way up to 4K on the PS4 Pro, some of the tracks are returning for the fourth time, and while WipEout 2048’s contemporary layouts look luxurious on the big screen, it can be hard to shake the feeling of familiarity on occasion. That said, if anti-grav is your bag, then there’s nothing quite like the original, even with the number of inferior pretenders on the racing scene these days. ”

“It's still sad that Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool is no more, but if Omega Collection proves a test-run for the new developers to handle a brand new, original WipEout, then the franchise looks to be in good hands.”

“While each of the three games exude style and stimulation in their own distinct ways, they collectively showcase the best elements of franchise's engrossing racing and silky smooth visuals. And even though it doesn't completely scratch the itch that only a completely new PS4 sequel can offer, this collection is easily the next best thing.”

“Wipeout Omega Collection pulls together some of the series’ most recent highlights and uses the power of the PlayStation 4 Pro to keep the franchise on the technological bleeding edge, and it does so in spectacular fashion. This feels like far more than a tentative step towards a fully-fledged new entry, proving that as long as there’s PlayStation, there should be Wipeout.”

“A very welcome return for Sony’s classic future racer, and while it doesn’t represent anything new it does show the WipEout series at its very best.”

“Wipeout Omega Collection is an excellent remaster, the best way to play the most recent games of the franchise. It offers us great graphics, terrific soundtrack and a gameplay that remind us why Wipeout is the king of futuristic racing games and deserve to continue with more entries to the series in the near future. ”

“WipEout Omega Collections is full of tracks, vehichles and style. But there's nothing really new and the game isn't as fresh as it used to be.”
