How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Days Gone Remastered is an entirely basic upgrade that feels every bit like an attempt to shake some loose change from a dormant product. I’m sure the original has fans who are less ironic about it than me, but they’re the only people this’ll really speak to. If Days Gone didn’t win over enough people for Sony’s liking the first time, a slightly better looking reproduction probably won’t change matters much.”

“Days Gone Remaster brings visual upgrades, improved performance, and new gameplay modes to an already atmospheric open-world survival experience. While the story lacks emotional depth and mission variety remains an issue, technical polish and fresh challenges like Horde Assault Mode breathe new life into the game.”

“For the love of the game, Bend Studio has proudly brought back Days Gone with a PS5 version that truly shines on Sony’s current-gen system, and even brighter on PS5 Pro. It’s shrugged off the original PS4 launch to prove the title has always been great, and now with Horde Assault, it delivers a comprehensive package coursing with quality. If the original game released like this, perhaps we really would have a sequel by now.”

“All in all, I am excited to revisit and finally finish Deacon’s story and with the inclusion of the Broken Road DLC as well as the new Horde mode there is a lot of extra and brand-new content for players to explore. I just really don’t understand the wisdom of doing this remaster, while I am sure the fans appreciate it very much; I didn’t think Sony was moving forward with the franchise. So, to invest money in this remaster just seems like giving some false hope to fans that are interested in seeing more from Deacon and gang but who am I, just a black guy reviewing games. I am sure Sony knows what they are doing……right?”

“Sony's almost endless enthusiasm for remastering semi-new games for no real reason is probably known to everyone who follows the industry. One could say boringly that Days Gone Remastered is a pretty good update of a pretty good game.”

“Bend Studio delivers the definitive version of its underrated zombie hit on PS5. More stable, better-looking, and with a solid new Horde Assault mode. Now we’re secretly hoping for a sequel. Pretty please, Sony? ”

“Post-apocalyptic motorcycle-riding, infested combat has been given a makeover. On PC, you can download new content into the original game, and on PS5, everything is included in the remaster. The most interesting is the new arcade mode, Horde Attack, which will test your survival skills to the limit.”

“A Days Gone remaster wasn't really needed yet, but the result is generally impressive, especially on the PS5 Pro. And if this means that the door to a possible successor is ajar again, we can only applaud it.”

“As a game, if it were released today and as it is in the remaster, Days Gone could become even more popular with players. As a product, this remaster is questionable in several ways, showing that it can only be used by those who are big fans of Days Gone and are willing to pay full price again for a game they already own and see few new features, besides new bugs. And of course, it is a great way for new players to enter this world, perhaps the best version of the game. It is confusing, but it is the choice that Sony made.”

“Days Gone Remastered represents the maturity of a game that once had a shaky release, then with time got better with post launch patches and updates, improved further with a great PC port, and now shines even brighter on the PS5. In its current state, it has now firmly established itself as one of the best titles in PlayStation’s library. It’s a shame that Sony doesn’t seem interested in doing much with the IP going forward. Will that change someday with a Days Gone 2? Only time will tell.”

“If you've never tried the original, I think this version could be a perfect choice, as it's an entertaining game from Bend Studio, and you'd be contributing to a possible sequel. Likewise, if you tried it years ago, you might be convinced by the number of additions they've added.”

“Days Gone Remastered might seem unnecessary at first glance, but packs solid upgrades and fun extras. A fresh ride through a polished, familiar apocalypse!”
