How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 63 | 28 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 78% | 73 | 60 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 0 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics doesn't do much to stand out from other turn-based tactics games, but it treats both the genre and the show, and therefore the fans of each, with the respect they deserve.”

“The uninspired material is unable elevate the game's moth-eaten ramblings about good and evil.”

“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a pretty solid, if wholly unspectacular little tactical title. ”

“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a decent game despite some obvious flaws. If you compare it only to adaptations of movies and series, it’s one of the best I've seen. The game is pretty, engrossing, reasonably priced, a must-have for all fans of the Netflix series, and a strong proposition for players keen on turn-based strategies.”

“There will be some fans who will find content here to enjoy, however, with the vast breadth and depth of the Nintendo Switch library, those looking for quality games can no doubt find better candidates elsewhere.”

“Once you complete Crystal, you're allowed, like many games, to retain your save and begin again with additional difficulty. I won't be doing that. Instead, I'll be replaying Muppet Treasure Island, the reigning champion of Jim Henson-verse videogames since 1996.”

“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics brings back a beloved favorite in a reimagined way while also introducing a classic to a new audience. It celebrates the creative creatures we were introduced to in the Netflix series without feeling like a product-placement. If you’re looking for an introduction into tactics-style games and already love the world of The Dark Crystal this game is definitely worth checking out.”

“Strong combat dragged down by grind-heavy design, messy menus, and missing quality of life features.”

“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a solid game, especially if you like the source material. If you aren't interested in the show or strategy games, then this won't convince you to like them in any meaningful way. While it was nice to replay the first season of Netflix's show, this was a missed opportunity to capitalize on the success of this new era of puppet mastery.”

“In all, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a really solid strategy game. The pacing will not be for everyone, but the character progression and slower, more thoughtful approach to gameplay works well with this darkly themed fantasy title. It does not really bring anything new to the table, but what the game does, it does pretty well.”

“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is an alright extension to the show, but not necessarily a stand out within the turned based genre.”

“An enjoyable addendum to The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Tactics offers hours of strategic fun, though those familiar with the source material will get the most out of it.”
