How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“At its core, Infini is your basic puzzle/platformer. With its highly unique visuals/audio and absolutely bizarre storytelling, however, it becomes something much…deeper? Maybe. I guess that depends upon how you react to it, and I don't think any two players will take it the same way.”

“Infini is a deeply unusual spatial puzzler with an ingenious portal mechanic. Its rough, abstract art style and psychedelic storytelling won't be for everyone - or even for most people - but it deserves to be played and savoured as a genuine attempt to do something new.”

“There are games that merely dabble in weird but then there are also those titles that set up camp in crazyville, unpack their things, and get cozy...”

“On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Infini at an 8. My experience is positive, which just goes to show that one should not judge a video game by its visual aesthetics. And because I didn't expect much out of this title, I found myself pleasantly surprised by its gameplay. Infini is definitely a game to experience, even if its presentation is abstract and perhaps off-putting. So, don't miss out on this title!”

“As stated in the beginning of the review, Infini rewards those who can accept its oddities. The story and presentation aren't going to be accepted by the masses, but if you're up for something that you likely haven't seen before and want to try out some atypical puzzles, give Infini a shot.”

“What I found frustrating, however, was that sometimes the garishness of the background in the puzzles would be too strong and it would actually be quite difficult to differentiate the puzzle itself from the images in the back. Despite my criticisms, I don’t think Infini is necessarily a bad game. I think it’s a game that is trying to tell a story in a very non-linear or traditional way. I just can’t say that this was done effectively. However, I do think the puzzle mechanics are quite interesting and sometimes even refreshing. This is definitely a game you would play for its puzzles rather than any story its attempting to tell. With that said though, it feels to me like either a hit or miss. Personally, it was a miss.”

“For good and for bad, there's something original and disturbing about Infini and its choice of art style to convey its message. Unfortunately the game ends up relying too much on its aesthetics and less on its gameplay (which is competent enough) to deliver a memorable experience and often many players will find themselves completely bewildered by what's on the screen. The result is a bit of a problem: some players will undoubtedly see a kind of masterpiece, albeit unsettling, while others will simply see a game that uses its looks for shock value but not much more.”

“The plot is meant to feel uplifting as hope is, literally, restored and trauma overcome. But it all feels too downbeat and too open to interpretation to make sense. What for some might be an intriguing journey of discovery was for me a baffling, meaningless grind. ”

“The unappealing art direction makes studying screens for an escape all the more unpleasant. The bonkers plot feels like it’s trying too hard to be profound and winds up being more confusing than anything else. Infini definitely has some things going for it, but after traversing several, maddening layers into insanity, players may not want to endure the hardships that come with that potential. ”

“Infini is an ambitious, unconventional puzzler. Its unusual yet conceptually simple mechanics will get you thinking laterally, but the game’s steep difficulty and unnerving atmosphere combine to make the experience somewhat grating at times.”

“The word puzzler doesn't do Infini justice. It's definitely not for everyone, but I'd say that it's a game that everyone needs to try at least once. Very rarely do the mechanics in puzzle games surprise me, and I think Infini's are well worth exploring, even if you only have a vague interest in puzzlers.”

“Infini is a puzzle game that manages to offer a truly unique and thought-provoking experience. Although the visual and sound aspect is a point that clearly will not please many people and has a script a little more concrete than the game needed, any fan of the genre should try it.”
