How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 79 | 13 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 96% | 92 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 96% | 91 | 10 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |
Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 90.5, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 4,959 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

“The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is yet another solid addition to the series and the most well-rounded pack yet. Champ’d Up, Talking Points, Quiplash 3, there’s quite a few highlights this time around!”

“Three great games - plus two potentially great games when played in person - equals one seriously strong chapter of a very polished franchise. Jackbox Party Pack 7 really does have something for everyone.”

“My family and I have become massive fans of the Jackbox games over time, having played through each party pack at some point...”

“The degree of customization and accessibility is fantastic. Sure, some technical issues might be plaguing the Switch version right now, but even with some speed bumps, the likes of Quiplash 3, The Devil and the Details, and Champ'd Up are likely to become new game night staples. Hopefully they won't have to be on Discord and Zoom for the rest of time.”

“Never has the world needed Jackbox Games’ library more than it has in 2020. Sure, it’s been fun to play in the same room and through streaming for the past six years! But with so many needing more social interaction with friends and family and only being able to do that remotely, now is a great time for a fresh Jackbox Party Pack.”

“I thought Jackbox Party Pack 7 could not surprise me. Every year usually features a comparable selection of games with the usual ups and downs, but this year's selection is of a higher caliber. Even the weakest title is well thought out, making this a great offering that I am sure everyone can enjoy to some extent. Some of the games might be more restrictive if you prefer streaming or playing in larger groups, but that is a small downside when the included games are so much fun.”

“A few niggles aside, Jackbox Party Pack 7 is another cracker of a party game. It’s a great mix of word play and creative or collaborative challenges which anyone who’s familiar with a mobile phone can inuit quickly. From your nan to your little (teenage) brother, there’s giggles to be had here. ”

“The thing I'm most impressed within this pack is that the quality of all of the games is so high. With most Jackbox Party Packs, there's one or two that you'll end up avoiding or that doesn't quite match up to the others in the bundle, but each game in The Jackbox Party Pack 7 offers something different and appeal to nearly everyone. You'll have an immense amount of fun with this pack, and it might just be the best Jackbox Party Pack yet.”

“EXCELLENT - Usually with these kinds of releases, it’s common to see three or four really fun games and then one or two just okay ones, but I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of filler here. Since 2014, it seems Jackbox really has homed in on what makes a good party game. Whether your strong suit is writing, drawing, performing, or listening, whether you’re killing time with friends or streaming to thousands, Jackbox Party Pack 7 has something for the social gamer in all of us.”

“The Jackbox Party Pack 7 samples some of the past with Quiplash 3 while managing to revolutionize previous concepts with new twists breathing fresh air into their games. This more diverse collection might not have everything you want, but it likely has something for everyone.”

“The Jackbox games have always been a great accompaniment to a party with friends. It is an icebreaker and way for all your friends to get involved and have a laugh. However, some of the games really do only work with people of a specific personality, and its rare everyone is that similar at the party. While I’m not overly keen on Talking Points and The Devils and The Details, I think Quiplash, Champ’d up and Blathers are going to be the main winners here to encourage fans to buy the new pack, making the price of entry worth it, especially if you’ve got a gathering (virtual or otherwise) coming up soon.”

“I wish I could say more good things about The Jackbox Party Pack 7, but overall I was disappointed by this selection. I’ve come to expect that one or two of the games might not be great, but with three of the games here being complete duds, this is probably the poorest Party Pack yet. In its favour, The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is presented as nicely as any Jackbox game always is, and it remains as easy as ever to play with friends. But when six better games in the series exist, this one’s a hard sell. You can play Quiplash elsewhere, making Blather Round the only worthwhile title, but I’m not sure it’s worth buying the entire game for.”
