How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“If you are looking for a decent, relatively short (4-6 hours) adventure game with a great art style, Fe will definitely scratch that itch. I just wish the platforming was tighter and more responsive.”

“Fe is a conceptual project with a soul that allegorically through images and references tells about the struggle of wildlife against man. Sadly, small amount of content and some other flaws spoil final impression.”

“Fe has everything that you expect from a game like this: great atmosphere, beautiful environments, unusual design decisions. It's unfortunate that developers decided to approach a refreshing theme without a meaningful story.”

“Fe charmed me with its graphic styling and the sound of the game. No written or spoken word is needed to experience a somewhat obscure but beautiful story, and that's something that indie games of a smaller format often do beautifully. Accompanied only by pleasant string music and animal sounds, you're in for a thrilling and adventurous journey of exploration to save an animal world. Perhaps every title is not without its flaws, and unfortunately Fe often puts quite a challenge in front of you, which personally doesn't fit well with the overall meditative concept of the game.”

“Fe is filled with rote tasks, and its hyper-stylized imagery impedes attempts at emotional connection.”

“Poignant and moving in both theme and execution, Fe is one of the most unique platformers on Nintendo Switch. Its platforming can be a little hit and miss, and its stealth feels a little too forgiving at times, but that doesn't stop its world and the unique vocal premise from bewitching you with a dark and Gothic Nordic fairytale. While it's not as groundbreaking as other dialogue-less games such as Journey, it's still one of the most intriguing worlds to explore on Switch, and proof Zoink Games is more than just a one joke pony.”

“Fe is an enchanting game featuring dazzling artistic quality of the graphics, which is arguably its main thrust. The gameplay is not as impressive, but it is efficient and diverse enough to keep you entertained for a few hours.”

“Although it feels like a mash-up of many recognizable classics, Fe still manages to pave its own path of genuine style and feel. Length and feeling of missed opportunities indeed are pulling the final impression down, but there is a lot to love here. Though looking for it makes you feel lost a bit too often.”

“It’s currently £11.69 on Nintendo Switch (a bargain in my humble opinion) £17.99 on the EA store and around £15.99 for Xbox One. I would say selling it at £18 is asking a little too much for a game that has around 6 hours of gameplay if you don’t stop to smell the flowers. £14.99 would be slightly better, with £10 being the best.”

“Overall, Fe is a feast for the eyes and ears that, for the most part, also delivers a gentle and enjoyable gameplay experience. Interaction with the other forest creatures is always has a bit of a magical feel and in general it is surprising how many secrets are hidden in the space. If you’re down to just enjoy the ride and not rush to the end there’s quite a bit more to like, though more hard core gamers are likely to find it disappointing for its missed opportunities.”

“Fe is a decent puzzle platformer with some nice ideas, but it all rings a bit hollow in the end. The various songs are a fun way to interact with the world, but some are barely used at all, while you'll rely on others almost constantly. It can also be surprisingly difficult to control, with a camera that isn't always cooperative and platforming that isn't as tight as it needs to be, especially in an environment as vertical as this. The story, which strives to be poignant, fails to leave an impact, and while the world is a nice place to explore, there isn't a whole lot in it. Ultimately, it's a fine game, but it struggles to leave a lasting impression.”

“Visually the game is unique and something you have to see for yourself, the gameplay, sound and atmosphere are all really good. It is not Zoink who should be happy that EA took them for the EA Originals label, but EA should be happy that the Swedish developer wanted to bring Fe on the Originals label.”
