How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“While it is not the latest entry in the series, it is hard to deny that Jurassic World Evolution 2: Complete Edition is a game of incredible quality. The sheer amount of content here, from the base game to its included DLC, means this is a package with hundreds of hours worth of gameplay. Even though the core campaign mode is lacking, Chaos Theory stands out as the true centrepiece, and a highlight for longtime fans of the series.Although the lack of Joy-Con 2 mouse controls does stand out as a major missed opportunity, this is an otherwise well-done port and a very easy recommendation for all Jurassic Park and city management fans.”

“The evolution is noticeable - Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a better game than its predecessor. The gameplay is more complex, the graphics are nicer, there are new game modes, and some of the changes show that the developer has really listened to the community. There are still ways to go, but the direction is good.”

“Jurassic World Evolution 2 is by no means perfect. It pales in comparison to some of the other sim type games with its lack of options in certain aspects, however, if you are looking to have a more casual - yet still challenging - sim experience, and you want that Jurassic Park theme, then you shouldn't think twice about picking this up.”

“Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a rather successful sequel to its big brother in addition to bringing some improvements to a more sophisticated enclosure management system or the addition of scientists. Not to mention the full integration of aviaries or ponds to add dinosaurs. However, the single-player campaign, which is certainly more immersive, is far too short for a game marketed at the same price as AAA or almost. The absence of a tutorial is also problematic especially for new players to the franchise who will have to themselves and via the Chaos Theory mode discover the intricacies of this management game.”

“If we had to make a list of things that are totally radical then dinosaurs chasing and eating annoying fannypack-wearing tourists while we triumphantly hum the Jurassic Park theme tune would be top ten. Maybe even top five. We're here for that. Minor quibbles with the main campaign aside, Jurassic World Evolution 2 delivers an entertaining if simplistic park builder, that well-utilises the Jurassic World license, and throws in just the right amount of dinosaur-fuelled mayhem to boot.”

Given Frontier's expertise in this exact department elsewhere, that's more than a little disappointing. “Jurassic World Evolution 2 turns our classic dinosaur park into a huge dinosaur shelter. But a wilder, more detailed, demanding and, ultimately, more spectacular. Those who are fond of the license, will find a game that pampers every aspect related to dinosaurs and their enjoyment. Those who are fans of the genre, will find a more complete game and a more demanding point than its first installment, which if anything sinned was to be too soft for the most experts.”
