How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story will keep you entertained for twenty to thirty hours if you stick with it. I was most bothered by the repetitive cycle: walking - talking - fighting. The game is good, but only good. The content and content of the title corresponds to the price tag of 30 euros on Steam.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story surely will not enter the genre's hall of fame, but it definitely can captivate for a couple of evenings.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is, in my opinion, the best game I’ve played this year. I finally got to experience the characters in a way other than through written text. The combat system is brilliantly designed and offers a real challenge. The story is as gripping as can be, I didn’t just click through it this time; I listened to the whole thing and had a good laugh along the way. The atmosphere of Bilgewater is indescribable. All I can say is that I’m looking forward to a sequel, or even the same game set in a different location on Runeterra. This title proves that Riot is taking good care of its baby, Riot Forge.

Even if you don't want anything to do with League, we would highly recommend that you give Ruined King a shot; this is a spectacular JRPG that consistently demonstrates mastery of all the ingredients needed to make a great entry in the genre. The core campaign is just long enough to feel satisfying, there are dizzying amounts of character customization, and the combat system is one of the finest we've encountered in a turn-based RPG in a long time. If you're a fan of RPGs, you'd be doing yourself a great disservice to pass on Ruined King. Even if you're a newcomer to the genre we'd still absolutely encourage you to give this a punt; it's an excellent effort.

I’m hoping that the sequel will get developed. I hope it’s equally pleasant and full of ideas, but more focused. Right now, Ruined King seems like a small game that was supposed to be big or a big game that turned out surprisingly small. Whatever the case, it’s still a good and great-looking RPG.

Ruined King makes the characterization of the characters and the game world its workhorse to tell an authentic "League of Legends Story": the good narrative and aesthetic component joins the wonderful soundtrack and together they do great for this lore fragment of Runeterra; at the same time, the turn-based combat system manages to be elaborate and challenging, thanks to the curious lanes-based structure.

If anything, this title proves that Airship Syndicate can make a worthy JRPG that can run with the big boys of the Square Enix and Bandai Namco variety.

For League of Legend fans this game is a no brainer, finally you will be able to see and move around the world of Runeterra in a way that isn’t possible in LoL. But for those folks who just love a good story, interesting characters and pretty decent combat Ruined King could be that gateway game that gets into the larger world of League of Legends and its many, many offerings that are coming soon.

Despite the game has some negative elements in it, it manages to be a really successful production in general terms.

Although it lags behind in terms of graphics, it can well be considered a good title for fans of the genre.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story presented beautiful characters and worlds from LoL I enjoyed the story and the beautiful character style. Upgrading equipment and attacks was great and a nice addition to the game I really enjoyed it.
