How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | 82 | 464 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 83% | 77 | 1764 |

“Blue Prince took my breath away more times than I could count. Its brilliant mix of genres, intricate puzzles, addictive loop, emotional story, and fascinating setting all work together in harmony to create an absolute classic.”

“Blue Prince is a mysterious title that will keep you wanting to "try one more time." Once you understand how the game works, the motion of it is fluid and will require you to put your thinking cap on.”

“Blue Prince is quite an interesting game that brings innovations to a stagnant genre, but at the same time suffers from a whole set of shortcomings.”

“Blue Prince is a never-ending rabbit hole, where solving one mystery reveals eight more to take care of. Its complexity might be weighed down by requiring a good grasp of English vocabulary or frustrating RNG. Or you might just lose your sanity as you attempt later puzzles.”

“A roguelike puzzle game that not only has the power to keep you hooked for days, but will create the whole subgenre and inspire indie developers for years to come.”

“Blue Prince, the title from Dogubomb, is much more spectacular than we expected, and thanks to its original mechanics, it has positioned itself as the new benchmark for puzzle video games. Each completed puzzle feeds into others that are even bigger than the one surrounding the mystery of Room 46. The learning curve adapts to our pace and insight, and that's what makes the game so appealing.”

“Perhaps the highest praise that can be bestowed upon Blue Prince, and a validation of the near-decade that Ros has spent working on it, is the way in which the game successfully inspires players to follow the advice of the protagonist’s great-uncle: “Abandon the path and go where you want it to lead.””

“Quote not yet availableIt’s the type of title that forces you to constantly take literal notes if you want to solve its more complex mysteries, and one that requires you to have a strong tolerance for things beyond your control. It’s a somewhat strange title, and one that’s almost wholly unique. Whether or not that makes it a fun game to you, though, is up to you.”

“If Blue Prince were only about finding Room 46 and nabbing your inheritance, it would be a neat little puzzler with some fun twists along the way. For those who dive in headfirst and keep track of everything else it throws at you, however, it is so much more than that. Rarely has a game made me feel more clever, more lost and more elated the deeper into it I ventured, and still some question marks remain over its deeper mysteries.Minor technical drops and a lack of cross-save features aside, this remains a superb achievement and one of the finest head scratchers I've had the pleasure of playing. If you've read this far, you've already read too much! Just go and play it already!”

“Blue Prince is a unique fusion of puzzle adventure and roguelike mechanics. With deep replayability, layered mysteries, and a progression system that rewards patience and methodical thinking, Blue Prince is a deeply original experience that blends cerebral challenge with roguelike persistence. It’s not for everyone, but those who dive in will find one of the most rewarding puzzle games in years.”

“You can lose yourself very easily inside of Blue Prince. If you aren’t immediately turned off by it, you’re pretty much guaranteed to obsess over it.”

“Blue Prince doesn’t hold your hand, and that’s exactly what makes it memorable. It asks for patience, curiosity, and a willingness to explore beyond the surface. Its strange, shifting mansion becomes more than a setting, it transforms into a psychological and symbolic journey. Every room carries meaning. Every decision echoes forward. Behind its clean visuals and quiet tone hides one of the most cleverly designed gameplay experiences of recent years. It rewards those who pay attention, those who think, and especially those who come back after failing. Whether you treat it as a mystery to solve or a coming-of-age tale in disguise, Blue Prince leaves a mark.”
