How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 80% | 74 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 82 | 8 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 83% | 76 | 300 |

“SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is quite a well-made game, but it takes too much from the best genre entries and gives too little as an original product.”

“Spellforce: Conquest of Eo is an interesting departure from the classic Spellforce series, emphasizing turn-based battles and drawing stylistic inspiration from games like Age of Wonders and Heroes of Might and Magic. This change may not appeal to everyone, especially fans and veterans of the series. However, thanks to its intuitive and simple gameplay, it opens the door to newcomers who would like to explore the Spellforce universe but have avoided it so far. Seven out of ten.”

“SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is so magnetic it can be tough to stop playing. After finishing one game, you immediately want to start another, just to use the new knowledge.”

“SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a good reason to return to the universe, but it feels far less epic in scale when compared to the previous titles.”

“SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a special game. On the one hand, it is based on an old, classic recipe, which was abandoned after the breakup of Microprose, the dominance of Heroes of Might and Magic and the strategy RPG philosophy.”

“The successful Heroes of Might and Magic clone adds a hell of a lot of extra content in the new DLC for a good price. One more move and he's really going to sleep.”

“SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is not, most likely, a game that fans of the original series will love. It's a solid turn-based strategy game, but it's not really remarkable or innovative in any way.”

“SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a unique and interesting turn-based strategy. While the focus might not be as much on expanding your empire as it is in games like Civilization, the focus instead of questlines, story, and the world's lore enriches the game and places it in another category altogether. If you're a fan of turn-based strategy and tactical turn-based battles, SpellForce: Conquest of EO might just be the game for you. As a bonus, SpellForce: Conquest of Eo works flawlessly on the Steam Deck, with a good control scheme and the ability to run the game at 30 FPS with no issues.”

“This strategic Heroes-style spinoff does not hesitate to multiply new gameplay ideas. Most are even good and work well! A daring bet that pays off, despite some flaws.”

“The new Spellforce shows off flying colonial turrets, tons of interesting quests and tactical battles. All wrapped up in a nice audiovisual package. [Issue#326]”

“SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a superbly average game. The combat is standard turn-based at best and, in some cases, can borderline be painful and tedious. The narrative has some interesting moments, and the unique RPG aspects make the game far more engaging, especially in those non-combat moments. It's a game that does not reinvent anything, and in fact, the biggest sin of this title is the sin of 'safety'.”

“Spellforce also delivers in its new genre and offers sophisticated and challenging 4X turn-based strategy.”
