How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Planet of Lana is a beautiful game with simple mechanics and great characters, including bobcat. But repetitive gameplay, easy puzzles and bad controls in sections with drones and electric labyrinths destroyed our hopes of getting a true gem.”

“Ultimately, this title is a great relaxing game for a quiet evening with a glass of wine. Of course, even the non-alcoholic one. It took us about 5 hours to finish it, and we hope we will see the second part in time because we will remember this experience for a long time.”

“The story of Planet of Lana takes a surprising turn, shifting from an idyllic life in harmony with nature to an unexpected attack by unwelcome visitors from outer space. Lana is the only one who manages to escape the enemy robots, and with the help of a cute creature named Mui, she sets off on an adventure full of logic puzzles and tricky obstacles. Their cooperation and abilities are key to overcoming all the pitfalls and saving the villagers. The game offers not only an emotional storyline and an engaging adventure, but also stunning visuals with amazing music that completes the atmosphere. Although the title isn’t without its minor flaws and some sections can be frustrating to get through, this adventure is a completely unique experience full of emotion and beauty.”

“Planet of Lana intelligently combines elements of classic cinematic platformers to make something distinctive and characterful. For a tight five hours or so, it keeps up the pace, with very few taxing puzzles or tricky action segments to slow progress. Leaning into easier gameplay in favour of visual and auditory spectacle, it looks the part and runs consistently well. It's a treat for the long-suffering cinematic platforming fan, perhaps even destined to join that short list of classics.”

“When the whole package comes together, Wishfully's debut release truly sings. A straightforward narrative and relatively simple gameplay loop simply feel bigger than they are, made even more engaging when accompanied by an audiovisual experience as strong as Planet of Lana's. Planet of Lana is the epitome of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Every piece taken separately may not seem like something extraordinary, but when Wishfully has each piece of its experience clicked together, it made for one of our favorite experiences of the year.”

“The puzzles are well-designed, the controls are responsive and precise, and the environments are always extremely well-crafted, colorful, and rich in detail. Music and sound also does well, especially the ambient sounds. My impression was that of playing a sort of Limbo, which we have discussed before, or Another World, an old glory for the Atari ST, but with less dark atmospheres and much more inspired by sci-fi like Star Wars.”

“Planet of Lana offers an audiovisual feast that is truly awe-inspiring and well worth the investment of time. The breathtaking visuals and mesmerizing soundtrack alone will etch their way into your memory. Sadly, the basic puzzle & stealth gameplay falls flat and even dares venture into boring territory. Perhaps my expectations were set too high, but it’s a testament to the power of art in gaming and a reminder that even imperfect experiences can leave a lasting impact.”
